When is Ruggles coming out? January?

Twitter doesn't say- all the others have specified months, but Ruggles just says '2012'. The placement kind of implies January, though.

RUGGLES is looking like April, because of workload. We've also got some other very exciting releases almost ready for announcing, but they'll be April/May releases. It's been a very busy Summer.

Very nice about the Pasolinis. I've never seen a really satisfying transfer of "Accatone" and "Vangelo" so far, but I'm certain MoC will deliver them. And here's hoping that April/May will get us some silents...

As both Alex Cox and Rudy Wurlitzer enters the collection early next year, can we also expect a MoC release of WALKER in the near future?
Completely agree that this announcement is beyond stellar and I'd pick up Walker in a heartbeat. I'm thrilled to see Alex Cox back working in some capacity with MOC again. I've really missed seeing his introductions on the 60's Japan releases MOC has put out in the last few years, so it's lovely to see him back here in such explosive form. That Two-Lane Blacktop and the Pasolini's have also been announced (as well as seeing Medea heading to Blu-ray from BFI) and that Punishment Park is being re-upped (I really hope Edvard Munch is being considered too) just about makes this the most exciting upcoming year for a long time.

I didn't see if this was posted yet, but the print catalogue is up now, including all the new announcements and possibly more. I didn't notice any new information skimming through but I might have missed something.

Wonder if any of these will be region-free.

Nick had already hinted about this, but the print catalogue confirms that Muriel and Tabu will soon be getting dual releases.

Excellent news about RUGGLES (and the MURIEL upgrade). Hopefully we'll be seeing more McCarey from MoC...

Pity that Kureneko didn't make the cut. Maybe it didn't sell all that well in the first place. The Criterion it is then!

Kuroneko isn't going OOP though. I'm sure there are other dual upgrades in the pipeline, just not before March of next year.

I think it won't be as simple as that. The fire loss meant an unforeseen opportunity to repress stock, and thus a window to upgrade selected titles to dual format... However it is a limited window, unless they keep certain titles temporarily OOP for a longer period, i.e. not replenish DVD stock but wait till they have a chance to develop the BR/DVD edition... We're looking at over 6 months already from the fire till the end of March 2012 (titles announced), so it would probably mean keeping any further candidates for dual format OOP for anything up to a year, which does not seem sensible or indeed the MoC plan...

Good point. It probably has to do with both availability of HD-ready elements and a particular title being close to the end of its print run (where the fire of course seems to have rushed many titles into that position). But I'm optimistic given MoC's recently new stated purpose of focusing on Blu-ray (it's all over the print catalogue) that at least the most deserving candidates will eventually see upgrades. Recall that just last year, Nick had said that a Blu release of Tabu would be unlikely, as sales were low.

After that great announcement can we start begging for an Edipo Re release before the end of 2012 ?!

Well, it does look like they're filling the Tartan gap, so the remaining features from those sets may well be up for grabs / in the pipeline, and I couldn't be happier. And I assume the 'more extras to be announced' on The Gospel According to Matthew means that they're trying, at least, for Sopralluoghi in Palestina.

Really, this may be the best day's worth of announcements from any company to date. MoC has the advantage over Criterion since they're not doing it a month at a time, but nevertheless, bravo!

According to this site, Two-Lane Blacktop and Repo Man will be available in both steelbooks and regular packaging.

This is also confirmed by Kevin Lambert on Blu-ray forum.

So since MoC has now done Make Way for Tomorrow and Ruggles through their Universal connection, any chance we'll get Duck Soup? Or, hell, all the Universal-owned Marx Bros movies?

Nice that they're doing Ruggles. At the time the Universal MOD first came out, it was the most prominent movie to get dumped into burn on demand, though unfortunately it has since been superseded by many more famous titles.

Would've hoped for more new-to-home-video titles among this batch. But, the Two Lane Blacktop extras are impressive, to say the least.

(And the Repo Man extras, too, but I don't think much of the film. Would I buy a disc just to hear Harry Dean Stanton talk for a while? Almost ... but not quite.)

I would think that the Imamura would shut down that complaint. I don't believe it's anywhere.

In all seriousness, how many films could they release that could be new-to-home video (that would have any sort of market)? Most works with any sort of reputation or interest have been released somewhere by now. There's pretty much only half-a-dozen that I can think of that I'd like to see but they're not available anywhere in the West (a few minor works of Fassbinder, a couple of Blassetti's works during the Facism era and Roma ore 11).
