Theatrical.
Expect the DVD (and most likely Blu-ray) around January 2013, going by AE's usual pattern.

It was £38 for ages, people who haven't pre-ordered this should regret it.

I gather that the price is going down very soon. Am I right? I won't pay 50 quids.perkizitore wrote:It was £38 for ages, people who haven't pre-ordered this should regret it.

Re: Artificial Eye
With a voucher I managed to get it for £32, but good luck waiting to drop to £25 (it will take at least a year).

Re: Artificial Eye
While individual blu-ray releases take from 3-6 months to drop to £7 or around 70% off RRP, boxsets take longer or even never reach such a huge discount. If you don't believe me, check the prices for the Three Colours blu-ray trilogy. The Classic Bergman blu set sold at £38 was more than 45% off RRP, which was a good price since most Artificial Eye releases do not get discounted more than 35% off on average during pre-order.

Re: Artificial Eye
Look also at the Kiarostami Boxset - almost a year in and still at £36 which was more than it's pre-order price. It's almost a no-brainer to snap up an AE boxset during early pre-order these days as it's likely the cheapest it will get.

It's actually £22.98 you forgot about the £1.99 shipping charge.
Luckily I had a 10% voucher code for The Hut and got it for £20.65 \:D/

Zavvi had a similar offer last weekend, though I notice that they haven't shipped my copy yet. (No hurry, though - I wasn't intending to buy it at all until the price unexpectedly dropped).

However there are sellers with it at half this price and if you are outside the UK the shipping is the same as from AmazonbigP wrote:Look also at the Kiarostami Boxset - almost a year in and still at £36 which was more than it's pre-order price. Re: Artificial Eye
Indeed - there's one who has it for less than £20 including postage. And it's marked as new, which means that if it isn't shrinkwrapped when it arrives you can send it straight back.NABOB OF NOWHERE wrote:However there are sellers with it at half this price

Re: Artificial Eye
The AE DVD sets literally took years to drop massively in price and we don't have a precedent of a blu-ray set doing the same, although there is a good likelihood of that happening. Speaking for myself, a difference of £5-10 is not good enough to make me wait a long period for Bergman in HD!
EDIT: I finally decided to buy the Kiarostami Collection, because the individual Taste Of Cherry/Ten release is OOP. Unfortunately, I already own The Wind Will Carry Us and the Certified Copy DVD is useless, but this is still a good buy.

Re: Artificial Eye
Received my blu-ray set of Classic Bergman today in the US from Amazon UK. It's five slim blu-ray cases housed in a cardboard slip.

Classic Bergman is £38.95 at theHut right now. Sadly, theHut is no good for me. I don't want my bergman to get hold at the customs. Hopefully Amazon will lower the price in near future.
TheHut still operates from Jersey, am I right?
