Will definitely upgrade Hercules and Tarzan (and the latter better carry over the well done bonus content). Maybe Bednobs. Never seen the DTV animated Three Musketeers with Mickey & co.

Sounds like a great package:
Experience two classic Disney masterpieces, THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD and FUN AND FANCY FREE for the very first time on Blu-ray and Digital HD. Enjoy Disney animation's humorous retelling of two unforgettable classics, THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW and THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS, wonderfully narrated by Basil Rathbone and Bing Crosby, which come together in one magnificent adventure. Then have some fun with Mickey, Donald and Goofy in FUN AND FANCY FREE, as Jiminy Cricket brings to life the timeless tales of BONGO and MICKEY AND THE BEANSTALK. This was the last animated feature starring Walt Disney as the voice of Mickey Mouse and the only film featuring all four of Disney's most famous characters. These classic films follow Disney's tradition of combining great storytelling, unforgettable characters, music and adventure to create fun you can share with the whole family. Includes Disney bonus cartoon classic, THE RELUCTANT DRAGON -- only on Blu-ray!

I wonder if that's just the cartoon segment of The Reluctant Dragon or the entire feature with the live action studio "tour"?

Not quite related to any current releases, but did anyone watch the segment on
CBS Sunday Morning about the child with autism who broke out from it once his parents discovered the Disney movies he watched were a way into his thinking?
If not, here it is. A pretty moving and powerful statement as to the power of film, I thought.

It's nonfiction author Ron Suskind's son's story. Here's the short
NYT piece adapted from his new book
Life, Animated: A Story of Sidekicks, Heroes, and Autism. Pretty much the most interesting popular reading on autism I've seen since the NYT's
aspies in love story or Oliver Sacks' first bits about Temple Grandin. And I'd say it's also of interest to people who care about the way stories work on humans in general. There's a lot of really wise unpacking of the sorts of choices that go into the structuring of meaning and metaphor in the Disney films -- and almost all of it by Suskind's son, recounted in his own words.

A couple Disney Movie Club exclusives on 9/9/14:
The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975)
The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969)
My guess is that this is Disney's way of doing a "Warner Archive" approach to titles that are not likely to sell beyond a few thousand.

As awesome as it is that "The Love Bug" is finally getting upgraded to Blu-ray, disappointed that it's an exclusive there...

And just what IS the Disney Movie Club? Something one has to join? Not much use to us, I'm afraid... ;~{

Just when you thought the old Columbia House "Get x number of records or tapes for a penny!" [fine print membership agreement details] model was dead forever...

I am actually a member of the club.

If you have a kid around, this club is really good. I got several good deals by joining this club.

See
Matrix's post here
If you are in the market for 8 or 9 Disney/Ghibli movies, there are some deals to be had. I signed up a while back, and the whole thing went as smoothly as Matrix said it would.

Has anyone seen Return to Oz recently enough to comment on how it has aged? I loved it as a kid but wonder if maybe I should leave it in the past.

Here's what Feego had to say about it in the last round of the Decades List Project.

Are DMC exclusives ever released as a general release....?

Not to this point.
(Technically the DuckTales Movie DVD made the leap, but that took ten years, so...)

Gargoyles: Season 2, Volume 2 also later became a regular release and it only took a couple of years to do so.

A couple of years, huh... not very encouraging. For a non-US resident, that is. Thanks for the information though.

The DMC exclusive Blu-ray of "The Love Bug" is a disaster according to an
Amazon reviewer.
All the extras from the excellent 2-disc DVD are gone, and the picture and sound quality isn't much better...
