I don't get Sony's strategy here. They license titles out to Mill Creek, then turn around and release them through their own MOD program. And they choose High School High (1996)? It can be yours (at twice the price) without being doubled up with Mo' Money (1992) on 2/18/20!

The logical choice to release alongside High School High on 2/18/20 is...

The Ugly Duckling (1959)

Never had a US DVD release, as far as I can tell.

Did they hire WA’s release producer?

I knew I knew High School High, but had to look it up (ah yes, that awful Jon Lovitz one) and imagine my shock when I see it was directed by Ellis from Die Hard. What a wacky world we live in!

All I remember about that movie is renting it as a kid when some of my favorite movies were SNL member comedies and thinking it was painfully unfunny, and back then I thought pretty much everything was funny. I'm curious what would happen if I saw it today but I have a fear of spontaneous combustion

I remembered it being funny and I think I even praised it as such at one time on the board. Then I revisited it a few years ago. I was mistaken

Godspell (1973)
Little Women (1994) - Was previously a BD-R, then was released as a double feature by Mill Creek with Marie Antoinette (2006) but that release had only lossy audio
Murder in Greenwich Village (1937) - Another title never released on DVD before

I think at least two of those have only ever been out on open matte DVD? Not exactly priority titles for me, but I bet they sell well

Also this bump reminded me to order Godspell. Sorry Hair, this is the real 70s hippie musical and it’s responsible for inspiring nearly fifty years of bad church youth group skits while somehow still being a good movie 🙅🏻‍♀️

Instead of “Bless the Lord”?

...That’s of course very sweet, actually! Does she like the movie, or just the soundtrack?

Now I really want to hear a group of kids do a heartfelt rendition of “On the Willows.”

Well she watched the movie once with me but I'm the one obsessed with that song who orchestrated the whole thing

I had to wiki just one of the guys, but aha! Its the movie I never knew what it was, but I was about ten flipping channels and flipped over to Comedy Central and it was on the scene where she rips open her shirt to display her breasts and prove she was a girl. I always wondered what that movie was!

Enemies, A Love Story (1989)

My father, who is a pretty vocal film viewer, had an argument with Paul Mazursky's commentary on this, and he took serious umbrage at Mazursky's claim
that Montreal is a good stand-in for period New York.
