We've been down this road before, but who knows? Maybe it'll finally come to pass....

Nice! So I guess that means Godard has finished tweaking and re-editing. Now when can we expect to see the English-subbed release? And who is licensing it? Artificial Eye probably?

yes, it was highlighted as an AE release in annual 'pick of dvd' in the Time Out Film Guide a couple of years back, premature but prescient......

Are you sure that email isn't referring to the book version?

Was this before the Engel's sold AE? I haven't noticed recent releases for them to be less ambitious (Satantango, War and Peace etc) but there were other titles mentioned a while back (Angelopolous, Fassbinder, Ray) that haven't materialized. I hope they don't get less ambitious under new ownership, but like I said, I don't think there's much evidence for that yet.

Yes, from before Engels sold AE...

In a nice touch the Dublin International Film Festival show his MELANCHOLIA in tribute later this month...

The email you received is indeed about the book, not the DVD. The 5% discount is the max discount that Amazon France can give on books by law. There is no such thing for DVDs.

"Sous-titrage : Anglais". It appears to be official.

Wow, best news in a long while if that's true. I was looking forward to the Gaumont release just so it would speed along AE, but if the French discs have English subs that's even better!

This is the best possible news if true. I can't even believe it

For those of you of the Midwestal persuasion, this is playing at Webster University in St. Louis on March 9th (parts 1 and 2) and 11th (parts 3 and 4).

Does anyone know if English subs are likely on the extras (especially 2x50 ans...) as well as the main feature? I've contacted Gaumont with no luck, but maybe someone has heard something.

Nothing shocking here, but Amazon now seems to be listing this for June 26th 2007 (though the other sites seems to be listing March 26th).

Gaumont's still got their flashy animation for the set up saying it comes out this month, I'm tempted to stay optimistic.

Weird, they just changed that sometime today. They didn't update my preorder though -- it still says it's scheduled to ship today.
