Would it be correct to say "it's
still windowboxed, but it's fixed" ?

I 'think' that the original was actually pillor boxed (left and right only) not window boxed (all sides) to accomodate the narrow ratio.
I've been wrong about this before though.

From Criterion's About the Transfer on M:
M is presented in its original aspect ratio of 1.19:1, a European process that is much narrower than the 4:3 monitor. The black bars along the side of the screen, called "pillarboxing," are normal for this format, and will be even more pronounced on widescreen televisions. The narrowness of this format is due to the variable density soundtrack, which was positioned to the left of the picture area.

Anyone still waiting for their M replacement as well as the Rohmer slipcase ? I have been waiting for over a month now with no news ...
justeleblanc, do you think calling them might have expedited matters for you (did they take down your name ?). It's a shame I've had to wait so long for a replacement when I am just an hour away from NYC (could have dropped by their office to pick up the replacement).

they didn't take down my name. the woman on the phone told me to email
[email protected] and so i did. though since they told me to email newsletter, and the next day i did, it could be they were expecting my email and new to reply to it.

I sent mine back to them via a trackable system.
As of 11.24am this morning, the package was unable to be delivered, as "Customer not available or business closed" 8-[
Think I'll try emailing them at the above address as well. It can't hurt.

I received the corrected version of
M back today from Criterion. It took them about a month. And they also sent me a postcard also.

I got mine too. They sent me only the first disc in a CD slimcase. But I did check and out and make sure it was the corrected version (the disc itself is not marked in any way to indicate it is the second pressing). And yeah they sent me a postcard too.

Well, the package was signed for on the following Monday, and I received a replacement disc in a single CD case 10 days later, with a large card advertising the Janus Collection set.
I did email them, but didn't receive any replies, but someone is taking care of business, which is good to know.
Interestingly enough, the return address on the label was different from the "Angie Bucknell" address printed earlier in this thread, that I mailed my original disc to.

I sent mine to the old address a couple of weeks ago, figuring it would get forwarded.
