So Munchie is a gremlin, dressed as The Fonz, flying on a pizza, and voiced by Dom DeLuise? And then they throw Loni Anderson, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Arte Johnson in the mix as if that wasn't enough? I think I need to lie down.

lolz.

munchie = candidate for worst film ever made?

also note loni anderson's face on the cover, she has never looked more like an android.

That looks very surreal and quite possibly frightening as hell. Seems to me as if it would give children nightmares.

No wonder the kids are so weird these days.

I can almost hear the omniscient voiceover for the Munchie trailer, booming, "And Dom DeLuise as the voice of Munchie!"

It reminds me of that funny Dennis Miller stand-up bit (when he was actually funny) where he talks about cinema in the South, treating the Cannonball Run movies as sacred texts, breaking up into discussion groups afterwards to talk about Dom DeLuise as a reoccurring Christ figure and tricky Burt Reynolds subtext...

I was going to bad mouth Dennis Miller, but I figure pre-brainwash bits are okay.

It's-on topic. It's off-topic. It's both!

C'mon, how could I not add this to the list?

I didn't know that Reagan and George W. Bush made a movie together.

Why do I get the feeling from that cover that Reagan is going to have his way with the monkey? Something about that cover really creeps me out and is just wrong in general.

its because reagan looks evil, while the monkey [and who can blame him?] looks slightly scared.

This link doesn't really belong in this thread, but somehow I don't think a separate thread on Munchie belongs on this forum.

I like how in the Munchie sequel Loni Anderson gets replaced by Leslie Ann Downs. But hey WKRP fans, fret not, 'cuz Howard Hessman is on the scene. I have got to check those out.

The title really dosen't help, either.

"It's bedtime, Bonzo. Heh heh heh."

That's crazy! Is that the Olivier Hamlet? Criterion still put it on a dual-layered disc on its own. I can only imagine what the image quality would be on that. Probably still better than that atrocious cover, though.

And I'm sure that Jack Cardiff's beautiful technicolor images in Black Narcissus are faithfully reproduced as well. Yikes.

Yes, it's the Olivier "Hamlet", and I am as well curious how all that fits on one DVD. But then, disgust, fear and repulsion are much stronger than curiosity.
