Re: 450 Bottle Rocket
Can anyone confirm if these edits are actually present? If they are, I would like some explanation from Criterion as to why the book title gag was changed before purchasing this.DignanSWE wrote:I haven't bought the Criterion-dvd yet, but apparently there are some edits.

They are present, but in no way should they keep you from buying the DVD.

Re: 450 Bottle Rocket
This release is an exhaustively extensive labor of love for a film that some people love, some loathe, and many newcomers to the director's work haven't seen yet. That had a terribly barebones release prior to this one. What makes it any different from most films in the collection? If the film was universally agreed upon as a huge flop, that'd be one thing. But a lot of people outside of the hipster set really like Bottle Rocket. The overreaction to Wes Anderson's success is getting really tiresome and grows more irrelevant as time goes on.

So, can someone confirm that Leslie Mann's deleted scenes are included?

The preservation of urban sprawl has been neglected for entirely too long. We're lucky to have any urban sprawl left anymore, the way the world is now. We don't want to lose more than we already have.

Re: 450 Bottle Rocket
I just watched the short for the first time the other night. Nothing particularly revelatory, except I didn't realize how big of a crew it was for something funded for nearly 10 grand. Also how much jazz was in the soundtrack, as opposed to the later work . The Vince Guaraldi piece over the shooting range montage was kind of funny.
