Any old OOP single title being recycled with a new one like they were doing before the line was interrupted?Jameson281 wrote:Mostly double featuresLino wrote:Will they be double-features?
MGM doesn't have the rights.DrewReiber wrote:I'm still hoping for Wes Craven's Deadly Blessing
I think two or three titles released as singles are coming out in double features. The titles get changed around a lot with stuff added and stuff dropped, so I'm not certain of the final lineup, I just know what was in the works as of about two months ago.Lino wrote:Any old OOP single title being recycled with a new one like they were doing before the line was interrupted?

Whoop whoop woop!mogwai wrote:According to DVD Drive-In, Witchfinder General and The Food of the Gods will be released as single edition Midnite Movies on September 11th. Additional titles are expected to be announced.
FROM BEYOND and ROTLD are not part of the Midnite Movies line; they're being released as part of a separate MGM Horror promotion that also includes THE BURNING, SCARECROWS and a couple of titles that have not yet been announced.patrick wrote:I wonder if some of the features from the R2 Witchfinder General disc will be ported over, or if it'll just be a barebones disc. The fact that From Beyond and Return of the Living Dead are getting Midnite Movies SEs gives me hope.
I think I remember reading something that when MGM was restoring Witchfinder General, some special features were also being prepared. My best bet is that they will differ from the UK edition.patrick wrote:I wonder if some of the features from the R2 Witchfinder General disc will be ported over, or if it'll just be a barebones disc.
DVD Drive-In is reporting that the disc will include a commentary by star Ian Ogilvy and Associate Producer Philip Waddilove, plus a stills gallery featuring rare photos from Waddilove's personal collection.Lino wrote:I think I remember reading something that when MGM was restoring Witchfinder General, some special features were also being prepared. On another board, Tom Weaver mentioned the other double features:Lino wrote:Fangoria seems to have the scoop on the other Midnite Movies double-features to be re/released. They are:
THE BEAST WITHIN/THE BAT PEOPLE
YONGARY, MONSTER FROM THE DEEP/KONGA
Konga and The Beast Within are reissues. The other two are new to the line.
Jameson, are there more double-features on the way besides these two?
From the Classic Horror Film Boards:
Tom Weaver says:
""I must plead guilty to having lost track of what has/hasn't been announced yet, but over the weekend my homeboys in the retailing world were telling me about all sorts of upcoming titles that were not known to me, including a big Roger Corman set (lots of exploitation titles but also PREMATURE BURIAL and X-RAY EYES), a Vincent Price set (PHIBES movies, TWICE TOLD TALES, several more), a PHARAOH'S CURSE-CURSE OF THE FACELESS MAN double-bill, THE VAMPIRE-THE RETURN OF DRAC, a FLY set with the (I think) never-before-released CURSE OF THE FLY, a special edition of the 1960 LOST WORLD, a PHANTOM FROM 10,000 LEAGUES-BEAST WITH A MILLION EYES combo -- and several others that I haven't been able to retain, the titles were coming at me too fast and furious. (Wish I'd had a pen and paper!)"
Then From Jameson281
"[Haunted Palace and Tower of London (1962) are] in the Price box set. I don't know if these are being made available separately. The Price set might include DR. GOLDFOOT AND THE GIRL BOMBS (U.S. version only), but I have no official confirmation on that.
The Roger Corman promotion that Tom mentioned will include a couple of previously unreleased titles in addition to the reissues.
Both RETURN OF DRAC and THE VAMPIRE will be using brand-spankin' new hi-def transfers. I discovered original 1950's documentation establishing 1.85:1 as the proper aspect ratio, but I'm not sure what they chose to use for the DVD.
PHANTOM FROM 10,000 LEAGUES should also be a new hi-def transfer from original elements, so you'll be able to toss those public domain versions..
I was told that the CURSE OF THE FACELESS MAN/PHAROAH'S CURSE double bill was cancelled, but if Tom is hearing about it from retailers it must be back on.
The highlighted titles are new to DVD.According to Movies Unlimited, the Roger Corman set (due 18th September) includes Premature Burial, The Man with X-Ray Eyes, The Young Racers, The Trip, Gas-s-s-s-s, Bloody Mama, The Wild Angels, Bucket of Blood whilst the Vincent Price one includes Tales of Terror, Twice-Told Tales, The Abominable Dr Phibes, Dr Phibes Rises Again, Theatre of Blood, Madhouse, Witchfinder General
They are both flagged as Set #1 thus paving the way for future sets...
The new discs are flippers as well.zombeaner wrote:I'll happily trade in my current flippers of the Vincent Price movies for the new ones
