I think you can see electricity with the right tools, like say a Tesla Coil. God schools are being forced to be so stupid.

To be fair, that's not like a public school curriculum textbook- the only kids subjected to that madness are in private school, or homeschooled. As far as I can tell. I hope.
Honestly, though, how do you test someone to see if they've read that shit? Ask a quiz question, and if they know anything at all, take a point off?

Yes, that pretty much sums up the problem with that page of text.

From the same textbook:

That's really stretching the definition of a text book. It sounds more like a bible for biased dummies. Where'd you find this?

Click my link under the first pic. My friend shared it with me, and she got it from her friend, and so on... so, internet chain mail

That's not even the worst part of the moon chapter. The part where they "debunk" the science is far more scurrilous.

It gets better:
just go to the publisher's page. Just when you thought Bob Jones couldn't top its reputation for racism.

I see that when he wasn't getting himself banned on here, Tark was putting together a textbook. No doubt it contains a stirring account of how the sun revolves around the earth and how the stars are all just lights attached to the celestial sphere.

At least we can all agree that nobody knows how magnets work.

Blue Like Jazz (Steve Taylor 2012)
Satisfying youth-centered "Christian film" that has little interest in serving as a staid witnessing tool and instead tries to frame a traditional coming of age story within a religious framework, replete with a refreshing openness to swears, drinking, and homosexuality. I appreciated how the film presented its college student protagonist as a generally likable guy while still compounding his rampant asshole behavior without easy catharsis or resolution, as seen in the great scene where his hometown friend passes through to visit, only to receive the coldest of shoulders. The narrative sets the audience up for an early change of heart, a reconciliation, an admirable admission of fault. No such thing occurs at this juncture, and this behavior feels true. This and other regrettable acts are all to make the eventual rediscovery of faith all the more meaningful, sure, but how many modern films for young audiences present a crisis of faith while honestly reporting and chastising specific problems and issues that come with being a Christian, while still making the case for belief?

I always thought that Steve Taylor was thoughtful, open-minded and clever as a Christian songwriter (which is not particularly common with those who accept "Christian" as a moniker); I'm happy to hear that he brings some of those same attributes to filmmaking.

Left Behind (Vic Armstrong, 2014)
I thought this was fake, but apparently is the real poster for the Left Behind remake starring Nicolas Cage

I imagine the face Nic Cage is making there is the same face I'll be making after I see Left Behind.

All the characters in that poster look vaguely quizzical about why they've been left behind. I hope the film somehow fills both them and us in on what sins they have all committed in detail, otherwise I think everyone will be really disappointed!

Nic Cage and doofy Christian evangelical filmmaking. My two greatest guilty pleasures.

I'll preface this by saying that I haven't read the books by the execrable Tim LaHaye. I normally have very low standards about what entertainment I take in, but you'd have to pay me a lot of money to read that shit. Now, perhaps I'd see the films with Kirk Cameron for the upcoming religion project or play the
video game which is allegedly about recruiting people to Christianity help you kill as many nonbelievers as possible, but you'd have to give me a real sweet deal before I'd read one of those books. That being said, I believe that their main crime was simply non-belief in the books. I'm pretty sure that Cage's character stars out as a humanist that mocks religious believers, before they all get sent off to heaven, leaving him...LEFT BEHIND!
I do wonder how closely this movie (movie series?) will follow the books, which apparently get very violent and very, very anti-Semitic with all Jews either converting or getting killed.

Why not just wait and watch the upcoming HBO series with Justin Theroux about all the people left behind after the Rapture instead?
