FWIW, I just noticed that both a remastered DVD and a Blu-ray upgrade of Children of Paradise are listed on dvdaf.com with the specific release date of Sept. 18.

It's been there for a while - since the NYT article, I believe.

My mixture of speculation and desire for tomorrow:

Pasolini's Trilogy of Life
Bitter Rice
Rosemary's Baby
Knife in the Water Blu
Children of Paradise Blu

Since I'm also currently writing a logic textbook, I'll make the additional prediction that this prediction is incorrect.

My Predictions:
Heaven's Gate
The Blob upgrade
And the Ship Sails On upgrade
Rosemary's Baby
Qatsi Trilogy Box Set
Frank Perry Eclipse

My logic is telling me that I'll be wrong, but I'll guess these anyway.

Yikes, I forgot about the Umberto D clue. I can't remember exactly when that clue came out, but it certainly feels like its been the requisite number of months from clue to release for us to see it this month. Add this one to my list as well.

I have been out of the loop for a few months, but why are so many people speculating on De Sica? Was there a clue that I missed?

There was a newsletter clue of a dog holding onto a hat with its mouth

Specifically here

Edit: apparently you commented on it!

Ha! My life got turned upside down about two months ago, so this has been the last thing on my mind. Thanks for the reminder/link.

Children of Paradise redux

October

Wild Strawberries Blu

November
Y Tu Mama Tambien
On the Waterfront
Weekend (1967)
The Soft Skin
Czech New Wave Eclipse: vol. 2

December
Pasolini's Trilogy of Life

I have to say that this list seems the most likely overall of what we already know through NYTimes confirming Children in September, and facebook showing The Blob getting a Blu (what a serendipitous phrase that is, good title for a sequel). I just hope Grey Gardens and Beales of Grey Gardens will have their Blu releases in the same month.

I'm hoping that the GARDENS Blu coincides with an Eclipse dump of the Maysles shorts they've been sitting on (Truman, Brando, Welles, etc.).

Also: I imagine September will be a light month, a la July, given how heavy August is and how packed October is supposed to be.

September has historically been a big month, so don't count on it

October will only be packed if Blob's Blu and Rosemary's Baby both get their releases then, which would be so appropriate but is still up in the air- Rosemary's Baby could also get a December release and it would also befit the context of the film. But not every film can be released in a month that represents a significant theme or event of the film itself. After all, Grey Gardens, to me, is a film that ought to have been a summer release considering the majority of those two films are shot during those months. A Fourth of July release for Grey Gardens would've been ideal, all things being equal which they aren't; to paraphrase, "Did you know in East Hampton you can get arrested for watching Grey Gardens while wearing white shoes on a Sunday after Labor Day? I mean do you know that?"

Regardless of when these are released they will be released and that is what should matter most.

As if we needed more evidence, the order links for Children of Paradise have gone missing on Criterion's site.

Well, I guess we finally have confirmation that we're not going to see Zodiac despite the mysterious OOP status of the Paramount special edition.

Damn. When I made made predictions yesterday, I came within an inch of picking Les visiteurs du soir. I loved it on Hulu, but ultimately decided that it was likely pretty low on their 'to do' list.
