What are your guesses for December or did they mention already?

In reference to Che:
We wanted to be ready for December... it became clear that if we delayed the
release a month we would be able to make a much better set.
Sounds promising, so I'm guessing that, 8 1/2 on BD and by Brakhage: An Anthology Vol. II.

Yes! But unfortunately, it seems unlikely, and even if it does get released, comments from Marilyn Brakhage lead one to believe a Blu-ray will only follow later, if at all.

I stand corrected on Che. I somehow remembered them saying it was delayed a few months rather than a (singular) month.

Also, it'll have been a few months since Eclipse Series 18, so maybe we'll see the Costa Eclipse set, if it is in fact 'relegated' to Eclipse.

I've said this like six times already, but extras have been produced for the Costa set. So if it does come out on Eclipse, it means they've dumped some special features and we have another reason to hate them.

Funny enough, on their current page update...

Well, I’ve got a young family, so I rarely get to a movie theater and spend a lot of time with My Neighbor Totoro and Harold and the Purple Crayon at the moment. But the great reading voyage of my summer was the complete collected stories of J. G. Ballard, which I’d agreed to write about and so decided to plunge into reading the entire thousand pages from front to back. I can’t recommend that experience highly enough—it was like doing a mind-meld with Ballard that lasted for weeks. A few recent enthusiasms on DVD: The Friends of Eddie Coyle, Last Year at Marienbad, and the latest few Melville releases from you guys. And I’m about to plunge into Berlin Alexanderplatz, one of those experiences I’ve been anticipating having for decades. Did I mention that I like longartworks? Which reminds me, when are you guys going to do Rivette’s Out 1?

Call me crazy, but now I'm getting optimistic. What with that Facebook 'poll' and now sticking this up on their website, Criterion is either a) stupid; b) masochistic; or c) actually working on Out 1. I'm betting on c).

^ Something tells me it's (b), but I hope you're right. Current odds :-1-2 (b) , 6-4 (c).

Everything you guys want is going to be on Criterion/and or DVD to a degree, and Out 1, along with other Rivette is certain; it's just a matter of when don't you think?

Nah. Until they started bringing it up, my ETA for a Criterion Out 1 was never.

Who would have thought Brakhage? Or Chantal Akerman?! I asked for Jeanne Dielman 4 years ago, and they never said they would get it... Next year we get Pedro Costa, and others... Certainly with the retrospective (if you're a NY'er you were there I'm sure) at MoMI, and the increase of his interest it is only a matter of time.

LOL. I think we need a new thread: "When does Criterion announce when they are going to announce new titles?"

No, what we need is a thread called "When will Criterion finally announce that they will be announcing Rivette". And Cinephrenic, while your list looks great, I'm almost shocked that "Jeanne la Pucelle" isn't on it, especially after the AE disaster. Criterion and Blu, all the way!

I just threw a bunch of Rivette at it. Any Rivette will cure the frenzy at this point. [-o<

But where is "36 vues du pic Saint-Loup"? And 'The abandoned myth' (perfect title!) should also include "Marie et Julien", which however is too good for an Eclipse release. Now where do we place "Don't touch the axe"?

Seriously, give me "Amour Fou" and "Out 1", and I'll declare it the best year for Criterion ever!
