You know, they're lovely covers and all, proof and testament of the continuing good taste from MoC...
But I can't help but think that The Lost Weekend artwork would be better without the bat silhouette dangling over Ray Milland.
Not so much from a design pov as to avoid any guffaws that may come from remembering the, ah, rather rudimentary special effects concerning the hallucination. Of the which the drawing is actually a stunningly accurate rendition (ie: a dangling paper silhouette). And I say this as, like most of us in this forum, a big fan of the film.

Received the Repo Man steelbook today. Another beautiful release and I hope that they`ll keep releasing the steelbooks in the future. Love them

I adore this conceptual make-up for the "Leopard Man" - too bad the character is not really visible in the film itself!

They look lovely, especially Island. Love the simplicity of just image + title.

Though I also like the Charles Laughton image on the regular cover. Tough decision!

This is really going to generate some sales to the steelbook lunatics. Lost Souls looks terrific, but I think it would be even better without the title on the front.

I can agree that the title on Lost Souls cover looks a bit distracting. The Hurt Locker steelbook, released two weeks ago by LionsGate, doesn't have a title on the cover itself but on a J-sleeve, so that's one of the possibilities.

All those SteelBook images are final, except ISLAND OF LOST SOULS, which isn't locked down, and sneaked out unexpectedly!

I've got to admit that even though I'm not a big fan of steelbooks in general, these do look lovely. I remember picking up the TOUCH OF EVIL steelbook in HMV and thinking I may have made a mistake in dismissing them so quickly.

Agreed. I recently posted somewhere on this board about how I didn't really understand the love for steelbooks. After seeing these images of upcoming releases, I'm starting to appreciate steelbooks. I really like that the case looks more like a complete work of art. The absence of the bluray header at the top and the way the image extends to the very edge of the case gives the package a much less mass produced feel. I suppose the best analogy I could make would be to compare steelbooks to LP packaging and standard DVD cases to CD jewel cases. Of course, I'm probably just reiterating what all of you have known for some time.

In any case, I canceled my Amazon pre-order for the regularly packaged Repo Man (upon hearing that their shipment would be delayed) and re-ordered the steelbook directly from Eureka. I definitely plan on doing the same with several of the upcoming MoC releases.

From my point of view, I like Steelbooks because they feel as even more collectible than other already limited editions from MoC.
As for the biggest editions from studios like FOX or Paramount, I think it is just the easiest way to something more worked out, without being a huge box filled with useless goodies.

It is nicer, feels collectible, and is not always more expensive than the regular edition (even if it is for MoC).

You'd be crazy not to use it as the final SB artwork, it's simply amazing and very eye catching.

That has got to be the best MoC jacket so far. No gripes whatsoever.

No interest in the film but the cover is indeed one of their finest.
