If you expand to see all sellers, the second cheapest option is direct from Amazon.

OK. I see that. Strange though that Amazon hilights a seller first.

They do that for all items that are available cheaper from a third party but fulfilled by Amazon

Do you mean special-features-wise? Having watched this disc recently I would argue that while Sam Staggs' commentary is fun and informative the featurettes (including an episode of AMC Backlot from circa 1998 or whenever) are pretty shallow. An interview with Molly Haskell about this film would be sublime as would an essay by Sheila O'Malley or Farran Smith Nehme. Probably won't happen but one can dream.

Since I own (and saw in the theater) each of those examples you’ve listed, I realize now I was their extremely narrow target audience and best (only?) customer.

Wow Lost City of Z was 4.99 like all holiday season. Too bad!

Worth mentioning here that The Neon Demon is available in 4K on Amazon, and it looks absolutely stunning with the increased resolution over the Blu-ray

If I'm not mistaken almost all of those titles are available on Amazon prime (The Lost City of Z is also 4K) which is a major reason I didn't bother buying any of them.

Catalog Fox releases on both Blu-ray and DVD are starting to become hard to find in some instances. The Laura BD, for example, seems to only be in stock at B&N.

Never thought I'd see the day where movies like French Kiss and Commando go for $50+ on ebay.

It's now listed as out of stock.

I’m thankful that my years of buying a lot of movies means there’s virtually no Fox titles I (think I’d) want that I don’t already have, but this is sad— though in line with what we were hearing last year about Disney just Vaulting the entire back catalog of one of the richest studio catalogs of the studio system

This might be a dumb question, but is there a list of catalog Fox titles?

I think you can search by studio on Blu-Ray.com and then by year

Jeez, I was going to recommend people pick up the Brit Marling movies before they’re gone forever, but they’re all already going for $35+

Is the feeling that Fox is still not going to be licensing out more titles? I know Indicator said that there’d not be anything more for the time being but considering Leave Her to Heaven, All About Eve, Eureka’s Fuller box, it doesn’t seem to have really stopped everyone. Or are we to think that those were licensed before the hand-off (which seems like a weirdly longer than normal lead time?)

Those were almost certainly in the pipeline already. My understanding is Disney has said no new deals this year, but people aren’t sure if there will be more next year

The Disney/Fox sale didn't close until March of last year, so in that light the lead time doesn't seem that extraordinary (especially for Criterion, where we've had signs that certain titles have been licensed years before they actually come out).

The Fox execs possibly knew about the Disney deal potentially happening and what would be in store for their catalog, so they may have given CC a chance before the merger. So hopefully there are more in pipeline that were previously agreed upon

Recent Fox releases such as A Hidden Life and Ad Astra are also potentially out of print, as they seem to be either unavailable or going for huge prices (more so in the case of A Hidden Life)

They already had Disney’s branding. Are you looking at Amazon for this? They have a weird feud with both Fox and now Disney which means a lot of their titles are often unavailable (the latest Star Wars wasn’t available til like a month after release)

Yeah, those titles are still available at other major retailers. It would be extremely foolhardy to cut these films off within months of their release.

Ad Astra is in stock at Amazon, except for the 4K Blu-ray which is only available through marketplace sellers. A Hidden Life is only available through marketplace sellers. I don't see anything amiss with these titles at other retailers. So I don't think there's reason to believe they're already OOP, especially with Amazon giving priority in their warehouses to "essential" items like basic household goods (they've gradually been restocking more "non-essentials" over the past month, but I don't think they're back to normal yet).
