Usual wishful thinking:
Le Petit Soldat/masculin feminin
The Servant
Carrie
Dogme 95 box: Celebration/The Idiots/Mifune's Last Song/The King Is Alive/Lovers/Julien Donkey-Boy
More likely candidates:
The Soft Skin
The Brood
Cure
Les Blank box
Sullivan's Travels or The Honeymoon Killers upgrade

I'll get in on the fun:
The Brood
Tati
Vanishing
Ugetsu
Haxan
Pandora's Box
Les Blank eclipse
which triggers much wailing and rending of garments over only one new title.

I cannot wait for the Tati Box and really hope that it gets announced tomorrow and I also really hope that it's not just the first three Hulot films with the same old extras (although I'll still buy it for the HD), but for some reason I have a minor inkling it won't come until November.
Aren't we also due for another Chaplin? I'd love to have Limelight.

If they stick to the alternation between silent and sound they've been doing for Chaplin thus far (assuming you count Modern Times as silent, which they seem to,) Limelight seems like the obvious candidate.

I just remembered Criterion is sitting on a bunch of those early Hitchcock titles, maybe we'll see a boxed set of those to round out the year

I like to get all my silliness out in one fell swoop:
October
The Brood
The Vanishing
Carrie
Sisters
Les Blank Eclipse
November
Midnight Cowboy
Tootsie
Blue is the Warmest Color
Tati Box
December
It Happened One Night
Moonrise Kingdom

No month prediction but would like to see A 2nd WCF set (with 'Limite' and 'The Night of Counting The Years' included) and the ATG Oshima films (most likely will only be 'Boy' for now) sometime in the last 3 months of announcements for the year.

If these two come out in the same month, I will personally hug you and every member of Criterion's staff

Hugging Criterion's "staff" is a quick route to a restraining order

Maybe I'll just repeatedly email them hundreds of animated thank-you cards.

A slew of classic columbia titles. Capra, Hawks, Cukor.
If I win, do I get a free trip to the Criterion closet?

Yes, sorry, it's my wish list for the month. Should have noted that.

On what basis do people make these predictions? Last month everyone guessed Tootsie and Moonrise Kingdom and I have no idea why.

I don't recall the library deals that got Criterion (presumed) access to Tootsie, or drawing clues (if applicable), but Moonrise Kingdom is more or less a done deal- Criterion issue all of Anderson's movies after letting the studio put out a quicker, slimmer edition first.
EDIT
A done deal for Criterion, that is, not necessarily for any given month. It's been a while, though, so the odds keep going up.

I can't speak for others, but my predictions are usually a combination of films that have recently been restored (A Matter of Life and Death), or films that have been known to be coming for a long time (The Brood, Tati box, Limelight), and some random speculation (Cranes and Beehive upgrades). I'm sure others are more well-informed than me, but I think we all just do it for fun.

I think it was proposed that it will most likely be released sometime in early July 2015, as Darjeeling and Mr. Fox were both announced by Criterion roughly three years after their initial releases (but please correct me if I got that wrong).
EDIT: Disregard the "July"--typed it accidentally.

I don't usually like to join in (I am effing TERRIBLE at guessing these, or even at most of the rebus clues in newsletters) but we're about due for Kwaidan, aren't we? I believe it's been restored (though the touring Janus print I saw last weekend was pretty old and scratchy- gorgeous colors, though), and it was in that poll ages ago with Picnic at Hanging Rock and Down By Law...

I gave up. I'm holding on to my .000 batting average on guessing these. That said:
THE BROOD
WATERSHIP DOWN
Tati Box
Les Blank set (not going to say Eclipse)
L'AVVENTURA blu
SISTERS blu
