Actually, I'll buy Walker, for sure. I laughed all the way through it when I saw it a few years ago, and to be honest, I think the cover is remarkably close to being just right. Clearly it isn't working as it stands, but I think the concept is solid and don't believe that very much would need to change in order to solve the problems in its execution.

ugh. I was waiting for this one for a long time, and now it's ruined. Anyone know where I can buy just one replacement case. I can only find sites that sell bulk, and I can't afford to buy 50 cases.

I have this on order and when it comes in you can have the case. I keep my disc's in binders, due to lack of space.

Ok, so... I don't want to make any enemies here or anything, but I was looking at the art for Walker again recently, and, well...

Did they change the cover art recently, or did it suddenly become AWESOME all by itself? Seriously, I was only lukewarm to this thing when it first got posted, but for some reason I know think its exactly perfect for the film. It sort of makes it look like a punk-rock western, and... OH Wait! THATS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS!!

Man, this movie is just a boatload of fun, and if it didn't have to spend $25 on it, I'd give it out to all of my friends as gifts for no good reason - especially with these features and this cover art. Granted, the movie isn't that GOOD, but like all of the punk/post-punk activism/ideology it came from, the quality isn't the most important element. I mean come on, you don't go to a punk show for the quality of the music, you go for everything else. This movie has the everything else, and thats why its worthwhile.

Holy smokes, who saw that Eclipse set coming? =D>

I'm in for Gaudi and Mafioso. The Klein box looks like a renter, and I don't like Ang Lee.

March Criterion in a nutshell.

This has to be the most pathetic month of covers ever.

The Ice Storm - "Have I got a pitch for you guys! So, we're gonna like put some ice on the cover with some red and blue lights in the back. Then, black background all around that shit, put the titles in Helvetica, and voila! Your cover, bitches."

Mafioso - "Hey, so with this one, I think we really oughtta go for that whole Super Mario vibe, the kids eat that shit up. Make it look like a locket too, that should appeal to the whole female pre-teen demographic we've got going for 1960s Italian social comedies."

Antonio Gaudi - "Yeah...vaguely go with the Teshigihara minimalist vibe...throw on some Gaudi architecture, make those titles look vaguely 'Spanish,' and boom! Cover right there hoss."

the Mafioso cover is a failed attempt to recapture the success of the Divorce Italian Style and Seduced and Abandoned covers. I'm definitely excited about the Klein set (I assume Seyrig is on the other side's spine!) though.

I suppose I'm alone in liking this months covers.

Ice Storm looks like an album cover for a shitty indie band though.

Well, as big of a bummer as it is that there still is no Naruse or Mizo or Oshima or... [insert Japanese filmmaker here] announcement, at least William Klein is in the spirit of the Eclipse mission. Am I enthused? Er...not really, but no one can say Criterion are doing this to sell discs!

I'm glad they gave the individual covers big pictures instead of those obnoxious little boxes.

They should have at least paired the Teshi doc w The Ruined Map, something like Tokyo-Ga w Late Spring.

Oh and William Klein's films were way ahead of their time, having come out in 1929 and 1932.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I love that cover for The Ice Storm.

I quite like The Ice Storm, aren't the lights behind the ice meant to symbolise the lights of the train Tobey Maguire's character is on while he remembers the bulk of the story? I certainly prefer it to the cut up faces of the earlier non Criterion cover.

Another month I'm quite excited about, only having seen The Ice Storm before - looking forward to seeing what Lattuada did outside of his co-directing Variety Lights with Fellini, of seeing another Teshigahara and for the William Klein Eclipse set of films I had only heard the titles of before. Even if they all need to be approached with caution rather than being outright masterpieces I'm still glad for the opportunity to get to see them!

Don't worry, William Klein's The Model Couple deftly satirizes a modern age out of control. That aughta hold you.

Their copywriter need a space upgrade or something? That tagline on like half of the spine's teasers?

I don't know I like these covers in general. The Ice Storm cover is I guess all the things you folks have said but I like looking at it. I haven't bought a Criterion release since Symbiopsychotaxiplasm so maybe I am not one to criticize them but this out of left field Klein set is a surefire purchase for me I would say.
