Godammit, Blood on the Sun and One of Our Aircraft is Missing were two of my most anticipated remaining titles

Was really looking forward to seeing AIRCRAFT in blu to add to all the recent Criterion P&Ps (even though it continued the unbroken tradition of my purchases of R2 discs resulting in their immediate initial release in R1!) These must be in rough shape indeed to preclude even an SD release. Most shocking of all is BREAKTHROUGH, the semi-sequel to CROSS OF IRON which has already seen blu in R2.

Considering many films carrying this label have gotten subsequent Olive releases we should really consider this more a stay of execution than an ultimate no.

And I was hoping for A Lady Takes a Chance simply because I love Jean Arthur in pretty much anything.

Blu upgrades of My Favorite Spy, Knock on Wood in August. Also Off Limits, On the Double, Only the Valiant, and Penny Serenade

Burned-in subs but it looks amazing.

Too bad it's one of his weakest films, though it starts off so promisingly with Godard's hilarious Tati moment. Maybe I'll upgrade my Facets during the next sale, but I wouldn't rush out after this one

If I hadn't already got Keep Your Right Up winging its way to me, the screen capture of the chap reading a book on a golf course would make it an immediate purchase for me. Only Godard has the temerity to have people reading (and usually quoting) literature in bizarre, but strangely appropriate, locations!

They're 16:9 safe. A pretty baffling decision, given that nobody willing to buy these films is likely to insist on filling their shiny HDTV screen (even if it totally destroys the compositions, as it would in these cases).

Has anyone had trouble getting Comment ca va playing? Neither of my players seem able to and I just want to double check here before doing anything else.

Just checked on my PS3 -
Comment ca va and
Soigne ta droite both played fine.
Soigne ta droite's transfer looks amazing! I can't wait for when we hopefully start seeing more 80s/90s/00s Godard on bluray.

Both worked fine on my Samsung BD-P1600 which is super-sensitive about anything remotely unplayable

The second disc worked perfectly. I suspect that the disc was damaged since after a firmware upgrade it was still suffering from some issues (skipped to the four minute mark). Hopefully the next disc they send works.

Anyone know what happened to The Pawnbroker? If there's any Olive title that I wished Criterion had picked up, this would be the one.

Hopefully now that they almost ran out of horrible John Wayne flicks, they will be getting along to The Pawnbroker and Caught.

They might have another batch of horrible Jerry Lewis flicks to contend with though.

Yeah, because
The Geisha Boy,
Rock-A-Bye Baby and
It's Only Money are all bad films, right?

Don't forget
Who's Minding The Store?. I sure hope Olive finds it's way to releasing more bad films like these.

Seriously, this is probably the worst message board on the internet to come to with an anti-Jerry Lewis comment

Hell even their weaker Lewis offerings so far have their positive moments.
