Has the printing error on the back of Street Without End been mentioned yet? I just picked up that set today and was quite proud of myself for finding it.

I ordered a DVD of The Leopard during the last B&N sale. On receiving it I was quite surprised to realize that the original cover design was replaced with a new one. The back cover indicates that this is DVD EDITION of the movie and a 2nd printing.
I checked the CC web site to see if any other DVD with old-style cover undergone the same changes, but was able to locate only Scenes from a Marriage. Can I find detailed information somewhere on the DVDs which original cover design changed in this or other way?
Is there any consistency in such changes - e.g. Leopard DVD cover is changed to make it identical to the later BD edition, but Marriage 's design just changed from the old-style to the new-style one, and as far as I know, there is no BD of this movie issued yet?
Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Rules of the games also has been altered to come in a plastic case and now features the wacky C. I don't know if there's any consistency in that, nor of other examples.

Down by Law is another older title where they replaced the old logo with the new.

These also had a reprint with the new Criterion branding:
Short Cuts,
The Rules of the Game, and the individual releases of
A Woman Under the Influence,
Shadows,
Faces, &
Killing of a Chinese Bookie

I hope they do that for all the double wide cases. These days the space they take up is just too valuable...has anyone seen Elevator to the Gallows in the new packaging? That and Story of Floating Weeds were supposed to be the first two to get the makeover - hence their unavailability for a while.

Is the Short Cuts reprint digipack?

No, it's a standard case.

I got story of floating weeds in the B&N sale, it's a double wide, but not a double alpha case, it's got a figure eight housing for the discs, so even more aggravating/waste of space than a typical double wide.

Most creative Wacky C disc art ever on The Killing.

Wow, Cul-de-sac's disc art may be even more half assed than the cover

They've also done this with
Knife In The Water. The only plus I see is that these cases are really light weight.
On a somewhat related note, I picked up some single-disc catalog titles (
Schizopolis,
My Man Godfrey) during the sale and noticed that--in addition to not having the sticker seals on top--they came in lighter, more flimsy cases than previous. They're not as bad as the studio cases with the big cutout disc trays and recycle symbols under the covers though.

What's with ones like Down By Law and Kagemusha? They now come in clear cases, but still have the old Criterion "bar" at the top of the artwork. Is there inside artwork now, or something? I haven't bothered to buy one yet, because I'm not sure what to think.

Probably just generic black innerspreads.

Well, Down By Law's is a white innerspread, but yeah, just blank.
