I am too, but it's certainly not the first time this has happened. They're actually in a pile of items I was going to list, except for the fact that I'm going on vacation next week. It's not like it was unexpected though, so I can't really complain.

Finally Jour De Fete. At long last. The old LD release was the 1964 version.

And someone said they expected several upgrades this month, well this set alone is 3, and technically 4 if you count new extras for PlayTime.

It's a banner one, to be sure.

Excellent month. The Vanishing is a definite buy for me, and while I haven't seen any Tatis nor F For Fake yet, those two are strong candidates for a blind buy.

And I suppose one person has to say it, so I might as well: Surprised to see The Brood go unannounced, especially considering it is October and all.

I mean, even all the covers were good. That's like the ultimate Criterion hat trick right there

After two months of announcements with films I was not really eager to pick up, I intend to pick up all of these releases. Absolutely incredible. The only thing I could possibly be bummed about is I wonder if there will even be a physical release of The Long Voyage Home if it's not side-by-side with Clementine.

I feel exactly the same way. This is a first time in a long time where I feel totally satisfied on announcement day... Even though, like swo, the Tati set is all I would have needed to be very, very happy.

The last Eclipse was in January. Can it be buried already?

Between the news of Watership Down (and presumably The Plague Dogs) and the awesome October slate; this is probably the most exciting Criterion related news day in ages. Kudos.

There was a recent post from someone who had emailed John Mulvaney with that very concern. Supposedly, in his response he made it clear that Eclipse was not dead and there were more on the way (eventually).

So, is Watership Down just coming to iTunes or will it eventually get a physical release as well?
