It's ok but what's up with the weird color scheme? It should be grey or black but yellow?

Perhaps a road sign theme. I do enjoy how loud the yellow is.

The original poster art had black and white stripes, not black and yellow ones. I can't seem to look at the upper part of this new poster without thinking of a Cliff's Notes of Detour.

If you look at the films original poster art, yellow was definitely in the color scheme.

I have looked at it, and that's consistent with what I said. They changed the stripes to yellow and black.

Still, not a bad poster at all.

Detour is kind of a Cliff's Notes of noir

Wow, I'm not going to be able to unsee Cliff's Notes on that poster now. It hadn't even occurred to me. I think it's ok, but I'm not crazy about Ann Savage's yellow lipstick and eyes. It gives off a 1980s vibe.

I think it's an eyesore, really hope that doesn't turn out to be the cover.

With everything so close to the edge, I wonder how could they successfully make it a cover without the logos awkwardly placed over.

Have they ever used a theatrical poster for the cover art before?

Almost all the Janus posters end up being Criterion covers. The only one I can’t think of is L’Avventura.

The most recent I can think of where the Janus and Criterion art differed was Tampopo.

Can anyone clarify why in the world the Film Index is organized that way?*

It seems indeed simply alphabetical. And probably the consequence of what seems to me as an over-complicated organization of the set, which could have simply been chronological instead.

Agreed. I don't need Criterion trying to curate an "experience" for me, and I'm sure their film festival nonsense will be a source of very mild irritation for years to come.
