The trailer for the new Amy Schumer vehicle I Feel Pretty doesn’t look altogether terrible, I guess. And where Trainwreck had Tilda Swinton looking way different than usual, I had no idea Michelle Williams was in this movie until I pulled it up on IMDB - can’t recall her ever being so glammed up

Disney’s live action Christopher Robin movie. It’s refreshing to see that Disney brought back Jim Cummings for Winnie the Pooh’s voice (he’s been doing it for decades) instead of some celebrity stunt casting, but then I looked at the rest of the cast list and discovered that the rest of the animals will be celebrity voices for some reason. Tigger’s voice is about as iconic as Pooh’s, is Chris O’Dowd going to be doing a Paul Winchell impression? Will it be good enough to justify not giving that role to Cummings as well? Most of the other characters haven’t been cast consistently since their original actors died (it’s amazing John Fiedler made it all the way to 2011!) so it’s not as big a deal with them, but it does always annoy me a little bit when dedicated voice actors aren’t considered feature-worthy.

Anyway, I find live-action Pooh more than a little disconcerting, mostly because it just reminds me of the teddy bear from A.I., and of Teddy Ruxpin, who always kind of creeped me out as a child.

I'm very on board for Peter Capaldi as Rabbit, at least. Plus Alex Ross Perry wrote the first draft of the script.

So, is this a Walter Mitty adaptation basically? I suppose that's significantly better than another full on remake.

Brad Garrett is voicing Eeyore which isn't bad, but I've always thought Sam Elliott would do a good job with that character.

I believe the premise it was greenlit on was Ted but with Pooh Bear. Which is unfortunate, as it does seem weirdly derivative of Paddington, even though I don't even think that film's success was part of the equation.

I needed this and a lot of people probably need it too. This, combined with the biopic coming later is going to destroy me.

Is this supposed to be funny? The Imdb page says it's a Drama/Thriller but all I really got out of this was that I was supposed to think about Margot being sultry and funny all the time. Instead it looked like a parody trailer that somehow got Mike Myers out of his exile.

Poster and trailer for Cohen Media Group's Spiral

Purely based on the trailer, this appears to at least touch on the connection between Israeli policies and rising anti-semitism in Europe, and I'm curious to see if and how it does so, in addition to its treatment of the subject matter more generally.

Let the Corpses Tan

The new film by Helene Cattet and Bruno Forzani is getting their best reviews yet. Loved Amer but thought The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears was a snooze. Looking forward to this.

I haven't seen any of their films but this trailer really got me excited.
