Just totally baffled at the amount of people who seem to just want to will the fact we've been told there'll be a big centennial project for Bergman out of existance
Surely if Virgin Spring were coming on its own they'd have integrated it into the wacky clue considering they already had the one for Virgin Suicides?

I first thought the young (crescent) moon and the girl with the Swedish flag were for The Virgin Spring. But then realized the crescent could stand for ‘C’ in ‘Centennial.’
Anyway, I am sure we will be getting many Bergmans this year including upgrades.

I think they still released a Kurosawa upgrade (kagemusha, and the canceled Ran announcement) months before the AK100 featureless mega eclipse set was released in December.
Presumably there will be a big IB100 set in November, but I expect no features on any of the discs, like AK100, just films.

But this set will undoubtedly be on Blu-ray, which is the main reason for people to buy it. Any individual releases is just further reason for customers not to buy the big set.
The big set will probably be in July, considering that's a traditional box set month and that's the actual month of the centennial.

Grand Budapest Hotel (should've been announced last month; Isle of Dogs hits theatres in March)
Until the End Of the World (currently have the soundtrack in my car's CD player)
Eric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales - upgrade (hopeful, but not optimistic)
anything from Jean-Luc Godard or Olivier Assayas

Grand Budapest Hotel will probably be later in the year assuming it's on the docket; Anderson's probably been too busy doing post-production and publicity for Isle of Dogs to be able to contribute meaningfully until April or May.

While I'm not sitting here crunching numbers, there is still a clear market for the MGM Bergmans---at least the higher profiles ones. On the mainline, we're just bereft of---what?---upgrades of
Sawdust and Tinsel,
Through a Glass Darkly,
Winter Light,
The Silence, and
The Virgin Spring? It'd be folly to stow away his late 1960s films in a $### box set that probably really isn't wholly aimed at people who post on criterionforum.org. I suppose it's plausible that
Hour of the Wolf,
Shame, etc. are in the big release, but later extricated, but the Guess Thread is probably not the place to overthink their release schedule.

Does anyone have any idea of exactly which Bergman films will likely be included in the IB100 set?

Presumably all the films that they can include, including "rarely screened gems" (from the trailer)---however they are defining that.

It would be nice if they include some of the later television films like
In the Presence of a Clown and
The Image Makers.
But what would really surprise me is if they include
This Can't Happen Here
which Bergman stated as being his worst film and which as far as I know has not
been publicly screened in any Bergman retrospective.

I always thought the rights for
4 Months became on the counter at roughly the same time they would have been prepping
Beyond the Hills and they just decided to wait on
Graduation, with the knowledge that IFC already had the rights pre-Cannes. The NYE clue was 2015 and I forget when they teased it on social media but, woof, the finally probably applies to
Beyond the Hills better! This film about to make its U.S. home video debut won't even be eligible for this forum's Best New Film award at this point. It'd be baffling if they didn't release all three as a box set, of course---call it
Romania!: 3 Films by Cristian Mungiu or whatever, just get it out there!

Well hopefully the Scenes From A Marriage upgrade will finally see the light of day.
If it's a vehicle to improve the PQ of Fanny & Alexander, then I'll pick it up, if not, then I'll probably pass, as I have just about all the Bergman blu-rays & no qualms about waiting for individual releases.

I imagine the "rare" Bergman's are possibly the TV films post-Fanny and films never released in home media here in the Nordics (like Shame, Hour of the Wolf, Passion of Anna, Face to Face)
