It's really thin, but it says Bernardo Bertolucci's landmark film. As for the cover, meh. It could be worse and at least is viewable.

The most egregious thing about that Last Tango cover is its inexplicable use of a rote romantic comedy DVD font and color scheme.

It puts the 'landmark' into 'Bernardo Bertolucci's landmark film'. But I prefer to think that it's there for buyers so dumb they can't figure out which Paris is being referred to. Paris, Texas? Plaster of Paris?

While it's exhorting her to sing, it literally left me speechless in the store.
I was all set to start making fun of the cover, but my brain just froze in response.

Looking at it on the internet, I'm intrigued by all sorts of weirdness, including the way all the punctuation is attacking Salmon and how she has no hands.
The endless male underwear lineup is a little unsettling and hopefully doesn't involve any ritual that poor young Salmon has to go through. Never can tell with the Japanese and their schoolgirl in uniform fetish.

Here are some of the old Cronos covers to show how good the Criterion is in comparison. It may seem OK until we find out that no female character gets the device attached to them during the film:

Anyway, I'm off on holiday to a lovely rural area with a lot of history. I hope nothing spoils my trip. Hmmm...some druids over there are having a barbecue...and they're using a lot of cooking oil...and they really shouldn't be lighting that match. Aaaarrggghhh!:

I love the super-generic title announcing the basic genre and plot.
The hands on the clock sure are scary ...

Holy crap is this where Cuba Gooding's career has been reduced to?

He's been mired in direct-to-video hell for quite some time now.

I know it has some sort of roots in old poster art (I think?) - but that is indeed a hideous cover on a swimminghorses level. Also: one drawback to Blu-ray is that the blue case against a cover like this makes both look twice as bad.

I can pinpoint the moment I gave up on Cuba Gooding Jnr from Boat Trip, a incredibly dumb gay-panic version of Some Like It Hot.

Yes it surely was, although the original poster actually looked decent.

The manipulation for the Blu-ray cover isn't perfect, but I love that Out of Sight poster. I've had the framed one-sheet hanging in my home for 12 years. Soderbergh commissioned it based on designs of some French New Wave art. Criterion used a similar design for their Contempt cover.

I have to say, I also thought the Out of Sight cover was striking and interesting- far better, conceptually, than the floating heads that seem to be the go-to dvd cover design- but it does look terribly executed in that picture. Hopefully it will fare better in person.

I don't see what's so bad about it, I like the design (except for the blu case, but there's little can be done about that).

Thus begging the ultimate question: domino, will you be keeping this slipcover or throwing it away?

Looks like they've used the Freeman pic from the UK quad poster and then chopped one of his arms off.
