Y'all disappoint me by not mentioning the reality that Warner Brothers is still neglecting The Devils for some unholy reason.

Come to think of it, did Warner somehow lose the rights to Lady Windermere's Fan or did they never have them in the first place?

I was curious about this and saw that there was, if the Amazon listing is to be trusted, a US release on VHS last issued in 1995, which I presume is the final American home video release of the film. If the story about someone at Warners hating the film so much they refuse to countenance its release under any circumstance is true, I wonder who's been there long enough to hold out for up to twenty years of DVD/blu-ray releases? And if it was/is streaming on Shudder in an uncut version, does this mean that either this person has left, or that Warners is finally loosening up its grip on the film?

I really wonder what exactly is the legal holdup regarding Frankenheimer's The Fixer. They said it's kept it in limbo for
30 years, but it did air on Turner Classics around 2005, which is where bootlegs of it stem from.

I assume Nothing Lasts Forever is still off the table as well.

Was there any update on Last Summer?

I am under the impression that they are either embarrassed about it due to what happened when it premiered or that they are somehow afraid of what it contains. I say this because I've never really seen or been given a straight answer about it. I think it's worth pointing out that Warner Brothers is of course the same company that has no problem releasing Pink Flamingos, a film with a literal singing butthole and unsimulated sexual activity. Oh, and of course the part where Divine eats real dog poop.

Maybe something to do with Bernard Malamud's estate

It's worth checking for titles that don't pop up on the page- Guys and Dolls isn't listed but if you search for it, the deal applies

Why oh why won't they ever include Kiss Me Kate?

I checked for that and Dial M for Murder since they've now both been out long enough to be included, but no dice. I suspect because of the 3D gimmick? Hopefully they don't hold out for much longer

Edit: checking Amazon, Kiss Me Kate is going for $50, for some reason..

Why wouldn’t you just buy the 4 movie blu-Ray set with Kiss Me, Kate in it?

Cuz 3 of the 4 I'd rather group by director

Jesus I really need to check grouped sets more carefully before purchasing, literally just bought Calamity Jane and Singin’ in the Rain days ago- as well as the Universal Hitchcock collection after buying a bunch of the set individually last month

Has anyone seen a review for the June 23, 2020 WA release of de Toth’s 1953 House of Wax? It contains the 1933 Mystery of the Wax Museum as a bonus feature, and I’m curious whether it’s the recent restoration.

While in any case it wouldn’t contain the two commentaries or the Fay Wray and resto docs, I’d be tempted to pick this up for $20 instead of the dedicated release of Mystery for $11 if it’s the new restoration as bonus.

It’s the same as the old disc, so no, it’s just in SD.

Oddly enough, given that it’s not their usual day, Warner Archive just announced The Opposite Sex (1956) on Facebook.

Still not as bad as that time they killed everyone's dog. I do miss Scruffy though.

Nicholas Ray is probably my favorite director of the studio era, but there's no redeeming this picture. John Wayne is the most un-Ray actor, trained not for psychodramas, but for roles of idealized men, something Ray could have less interest in. The only moment that stood out to me was brief portions of documentary footage that chooses to use some surprisingly bloody imagery. Ranks with Hot Blood as one of Ray's worst.
