They've been sitting on this many Chabrols? Hopefully after they release the two big ones their restoring now we can get a surplus into the collection. The transfer they have for The Ceremony put me into shock I had never been able to tell his use of colour is so well thought out before. Glad to see the other two films also.

Okay, I didn't get into film when most of these movies were still in print so this is a first discovery for a lot of the HVE titles.

Just signed up for Hulu now, and the transfers seem a bit pixelated, if still watchable, but that's only in reference to The Soft Skin. Maybe it's different with other films.

What resolution do you have going. At 720 the films looks like reasonable DVDs to me.

So La Ceremonie is going to get a Criterion release? Wow. I never even thought about the prospect of it joining the collection, not that it bothers me. On the contrary.

Well it has as much chance as Pale Flower did though I suspect there are going to be several HVE titles before it. The Weir's for example seem better prepped (assuming the placement of the logos does mean anything).

This is looking to be a pretty good deal with Hulu. Between hulu plus, New York Public Library, and one at a time on netflix, I can't complain.

Anyhow, my internet, although wi fi, is a bit slow, and when I set it on 720p, it tends to pause every couple of minutes to buffer. So my question is, if I let it sit paused long enough to load entirely, will it not do this? Thank you.

I have that problem on my laptop and just set it to 480 in that case. The picture is still fairly good if not great and no stuttering.

In 720p, some frames look better than an SD DVD on my laptop though. That opening shot of La Ceremonie where Bonnaire is asking directions from a man across the street from the cafe made me go, "WAAAAAAA..."

I literally sat agape when I read Gremillon. I pray to god this means any release is on the horizon. I'm also excited for the Asquith and Twist the later of which is entirely new to me. Also does it seem like to anyone else that Criterion is pushing Mother rather hard? Maybe they're going to make an other mainline Naruse release with it.

I hope to God that The Life of Oharu being up means something.

Looks like Miramax got themselves a Hulu Plus channel too.

Nothing earth-shatteringly rare up now, but hopefully if they aren't planning on putting their catalog out on DVD, they will at least put some of it up here.

This news surprised me. Didn't Miramax also sign a deal with Netflix recently? I know there is a lot of cross over between the two, but I'm surprised that neither of these deals would be exclusive. I'm not complaining.

This mini season might give some impetus. This little quartet would make a bumper little box set but if 'relegated' to an Eclipse set would miss out on some sorely needed docs and supplements as well as blu. For which for 'La Petite Lise' I would seriously consider donating a vital organ.

Does anyone have any pointers on how the various Huluplus viewers (iPad app, Hulu Desktop) might save one's position in a title, to enable resuming? Once in a while it will ask me (on Hulu Desktop) if I'd like to resume from a previous position, but even when it does this it's often incorrect. Forget it if you start watching a different title. There's also no synching if you go to a different platform or computer. For me, this is a major missing feature compared to Netflix, which is very good at it, even allowing one to see how much has been viewed on the website.
