Yeah. I picked it up at B&N as part of their buy-two-get-one deal which is going on until July 30. So strange that Amazon isn't stocking it. Best Buy and Target are online only. What a bizarre distribution move by Fox/MGM.
It's now available on Amazon \:D/

Nice. I think that I was being tested somehow to see if I could wait for my favorite movie. Turns out I couldn't.

For those who haven't seen in the bargains thread, apparently The Apartment, Midnight Cowboy, the three new MGM Hitchcocks, and the two new Woodys are all ten bucks each at Costco.

King and Four Queens, Hour of the Gun, and the Honey Pot are out now in Blu in Australia

Is this the first Walsh film available on Blu? (And the follow-up question has to be, why this one, of all the riches available?)

The Big Trail's been out in some other country though we're only just getting in the US in May. A King and Four Queens isn't a bad film, but I have no desire to ever sit through it again, in high definition or otherwise

That has to be one of the most "out of left field" possible choices for a Walsh Blu. Is Fox drunk, or just crazy generous?

It's not that left field. Wayne sells.

I think he's talking about A King and Four Queens...

Ah, though I doubt that Gable is hurting for sells either.

Yes, I was talking about the King one. The Big Trail isn't among my favorite Walsh films either, but it must be one of the no-brainers of his career for a Blu-ray upgrade.

Hello, all! I'm new to the forum, but after browsing around just had to join in.

I agree that The King and Four Queens is an exceptionally odd choice for a blu upgrade. If they had to release a Gable western, I would have much preferred The Tall Men. King is Walsh at his most uninspired. (I even enjoyed Distant Drums more --yikes!)

Nice to see the news about Hour of The Gun, though. I'll definitely have to seek that one out.

Re Annie Hall: disc looks great, but are people noticing a really annoying sound-image sync problem? It's especially noticeable in the opening monologue--Woody's mouth is moving about a half-second behind his words. Incredibly distracting but I don't know if it's the disc or my system. I noticed a similar problem in some of the scenes from Manhattan as well. Any insight would be appreciated.

Annie Hall was noticeably out of sync on my PS3, but was fine on my laptop. It apparently has problems on a lot of players.

Has Fox addressed the problems with the two Allen films?

Just watched Blue Velvet, but for some strange reason I couldn't manage to play the deleted scenes from the 'extras;, I can play the documentary fine. Anybody had the same issue and know a way around it by any chance?

Here's some Wal-Mart exclusives that make sense: Missing in Action, Missing in Action 2: The Beginning, and the Delta Force in June

My belated review of MGM's Notorious Blu, which also handily serves as my contribution to the invaluable For the Love of Film blogathon currently going on: http://whitecitycinema.com/2012/05/14/d ... blu-dress/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Does anyone know if M-G-M/UA retains the video distib. rights to THE BLACK STALLION, or if these have reverted to Zoetrope? The (really old) DVD version seems to flit in and out of print. And I can think of no film more deserving of a deluxe HD treatment.

Yes, BLACK STALLION is still with MGM.

I certainly hope that's wrong. A lot of the extras from the Daniel Craig movies are gone. I thought "Quantum" was going to get an upgrade here, but I guess not. "Casino" is getting a downgrade from the 2-disc. I think people who want to get the movies individually are just going to have to wait.

I'm still fine with the 2-disc DVD editions...

UPDATE RE: The Bond 50 BD set extras - I've just heard back from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. As expected, the list posted yesterday - and included in the official press release - was simply a "marketing highlights" summary. The comprehensive list of extras on the discs in the box set is significantly longer. We'll post additional details as the studio makes them available.
