Very possible but Mike Nichols having a phantom page and Criterion working well with MGM are really the only connecting dots.

The Australian DVD of Star 80 is anamorphic widescreen.

They All Laughed has a new anniversary dvd release, with director commentary and Wes Anderson interview. I'd welcome a Criterion release of more Bogdanovich's films, but I doubt They All Laughed will ever be one of them. I keep wondering if the Fosse phantom page is for All That Jazz, since both dvd editions are out of print, Criterion could really do justice to the Fellini-inspired tone of the film with a great load of special features.

Looks like Life of Oharu and Babette's Feast are coming later today. Check the "phantom pages" after Kramer by changing the last number before the name. Criterion hasn't used placeholders for writers, actors, or cinematographers before, so I'd bet these are going up soon.

Yeah. The exact breakdown seems to be:

The Bogdanovich title that would be really good to get in the collection is Texasville. Now that Last Picture Show is in, this sequel would fit well, and they could put out the directors cut which is about 30 minutes longer - virtually all of which are callback scenes to LPS.

This was released so far only on the PioneerSE laserdisc line so there are only a few thousand of them out there (I've got one and the film works a lot better in the longer edit). Unfortunately the film is pan and scan (should be 1.85 as the DVD of the theatrical edit is) and Bogdanovich was slated to do a commentary track - however PSE was so busted at that point they cancelled the session to save money at the last moment, really pissing off PB.

This is a great SE waiting to happen...

Hopefully they keep the John Waters commentary and have other Frank Perry releases in the works.

Does anyone know what we could be looking forward to with the phantom pages for Max Ernst, Man Ray, Alexander Calder and Marcel Duchamp? Is there some super amazing documentary I haven't heard about involving all these guys or what?

There are also a set of people that only match Herz's Junk Shop and Ismail Merchant's Mahatma and the Mad Boy, both of which are short films. I cannot remember them ever listing the the cast and crew of extras, so that would means that these are full releases....

It's true that we don't know how reliable these phantom pages are but they are in the midst of releasing new Paramount titles.

This is funny, I mean if you are right that they are screwing with us. That would be a nice way to torture our souls.

I can think about something for the first 3 names -
1. Leone - Duck, You Sucker (1971) [I put my money on this one. Why? its MGM; not included in the BD box set, where as the DVD set was Leone Anthology, not a Trilogy!!!]
2. Eastwood - Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) [or Michael Cimino's Thunderbolt and Lightfoot]
3. Wallach - Baby Doll (1956) {I would love to see this one, if at all possible!]

Can't really come up with anything VALID for Lee van Cleef. I love Death Rides a Horse, but don't think that's Criterion worthy! The Only name comes to my mind is Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957). His role in the film was not really significant, but enough to be credited! This Paramount titles is getting neglected in the HD business. May be that CC have got it (we know they love Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas)! So, there is a faint chance...

Um, that's the director and leading cast for The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, already out on Blu-ray from MGM/Fox.

Also just added were pages for cast members Al Mulock, Aldo Giuffrè, Luigi Pistilli and Mario Brega

It must have taken them all of three minutes to add all of those names. No way they'd go to all that effort if they weren't legit releasing this.

I know. It looks like they opened IMDB and simply added names in order, in fact, actually most of these look that way.
