I was pleased to see that too, and surprised—I thought it was close to certain that all three boxes would be made to the same specs but it seems the producers heeded reports of the first set being damaged in transit. I like the design aesthetically but don't find the key for director, decade, and b&w/color particularly handy, and when I have all three boxes, I'll be putting the cubes into storage and lining up the digipaks alphabetically on a shelf to conserve space.

I'm saving my cubes for my next big move.

Yes, much improved from the first Volume I got from my shipment from Propaganda in Poland. Still happy to have both sets sitting on my shelf though. :-)

Whether Milestone releases it in the US probably hinges on how possible it is for them to get some sort of low volume, short term sub-license for the three titles that Criterion has out in the US (Knife in the Water as a solo release, A Short Film About Killing in the Dekalog box, and Ashes and Diamonds in the Wajda Three War Movies box).

I won't pretend to know anything about how that might work, or not.

It's too bad they didn't also include A Short Film About Love instead of Blind Chance, I already have the Criterion Blind Chance & the Arrow Dekalog, don't really want to splurge for the Criterion box for just one film, that's really just an extension of one the TV episodes. Also would have preferred Popioły to Popiół i Diament, as I already have the Arrow Academy blu of that too.

Well Scorsese picked this lineup years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if he loves both of the Short Films but limited himself to just one.

I wonder if they plan to continue this series beyond the three boxes? I was under the impression that more films had been restored, including Ashes and some others. But the three boxes together look like a completed trilogy, design-wise, which kind of suggests that these might be all the boxes they plan on releasing.

Again, Scorsese handpicked these and only these 24 films for his MS Presents series. They toured the U.S. in 2014 and the UK in 2015.

Somebody posted the initial clip of the Ashes/Popioly restoration, but it's been 2 years & no sign of it since, so I was hoping it would be included.

Popioly [1965] is a different film (and unavailable on disc) from Popiol i diament [1958], which is the one included in the 3rd box (and also an Arrow release).

Ah, sorry for the confusion.

I never heard how the boxsets were created, so thank you for illuminating that. All I knew before is that the Kino RP Rekonstruckcja blu ray series ground to a halt when these sets started getting released. All of those discs, except for Man of Marble, I think, are duplicated in these boxsets. But the list of movies remastered by Kino RP is something like 140 films, and includes things like lots more Wajda (Danton, Landscape After Battle, Everything for Sale, Ashes [not Ashes and Diamonds]), Zulawski films like On the Silver Globe, Films by Tadeusz Konwicki, such as The Valley of Issa, and a whole lot more. I'm hoping to be able to see more of these restorations one day.

It looks as if a lot of the other restorations have played on Canal+ in HD, and quite a few are available in HD on demand in Poland. And I see that some of the Andrej Munk films and some of the Wajdas are on blu ray in Japan––of course, those won't have English subtitles, and a few of those discs will end up costing the same as one of the Scorcese box sets. And the Kino RP Rekonstrukcja series has continued with DVDs, not blu rays, which is a shame.
