So our current understanding is that Sony MOD titles are only BD-R if you buy them directly from Amazon, and are pressed if you buy them from Deepdiscount, correct? When did this change? Can I get pressed BDs of Marie Antoinette, The Bitter Tea of General Yen, Toni Erdmann, Wiener-Dog, and Welcome to the Dollhouse if I order them from Deepdiscount?

EDIT: Sorry, I think I was confusing Paramount with Sony, but my question still stands as to whether any of these titles are available pressed from certain retailers

No, and I wouldn't expect them to be so unless Sony announces a reissue. I feel like they have done at least one formerly BD-R title to pressed with this line, but I can't remember what it was. And to be clear in case anyone is confused, copies of new Sony MODs (ie recent releases, not the titles swo listed) are pressed from Amazon, I can confirm firsthand

And you can get Marie Antoinette in a pressed double feature from Mill Creek

I'm not sure what is going on with Sony-BR. I can confirm that I purchased Welcome to the Dollhouse from Amazon when it was first released and the disc was pressed. From what I can gather Bitter Tea & Toni Erdmann are BD-R from wherever you purchase them from but Welcome to the Dollhouse is pressed.

Happy to be corrected on what I have posted but that is my understanding.

That's good enough for me to try for the Solondz. I'll report back as to whether it's still pressed when ordered direct from Amazon

Did they already abandon this line? They were doing so well!

Blu-rays coming on September 22:
I Love You to Death
The Passenger
The Bitter Tea of General Yen (Pressed Blu-ray, so hopefully Sony will replace their other burned discs with pressed discs.)

Lawrence Kasdan's work tends to be middle-brow entertainment for white, suburban boomers, but I remember enjoying this one quite a bit. It's not a perfect film by any means, but remember thinking it was often funny in big part due to Kevin Kline and Tracey Ullman as repulsive husband and wife. Am I misremembering that it's good? It's also interesting to see it's the first pairing of Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix (albeit in supporting roles) a year before My Own Private Idaho.

It's a bit of both. Definitely boomer friendly comfort food, but also Kline does give a brilliantly vile performance and Reeves makes a great idiot.

I believe it but my experience is actually the opposite, where The Big Chill has hit me harder emotionally than my parents (who like it) and has been one of my favorite films since I was a kid. It was incredibly strange to discover that several of my friends from different points of my life also adore the film, without any introduction by me, and we’re all gen y. Body Heat also happens to be the only neo-noir beloved by a handful of people I know who aren’t very into “old” films. Perhaps the films were aimed at a certain demographic, but their universality is standing the test of time in my bubbles.

I risked purchasing Welcome to the Dollhouse from Target, and it's a BD-R, so avoid

Just wondering how this will compare/relate to the Indicator release?...

How the hell did I not know that Rubin and Ed finally came out?!?

I LOVE Trent Harris. They should've gotten him to do a commentary.

So happy this is finally coming out on Blu Ray. I can dispose of my Exorcist DVD box set as I have no need for the dreadful Renny Harlin entry.

This was actually in the Exorcist blu-ray box set as well, and it had Schrader’s commentary.

Never got the Exorcist boxset on Blu Ray. Have been collecting the Blu Rays for each film as they have been released.
