Tarantino should still go with an old Italian composer for this, like Pino Donaggio or Riz Ortolani. There's also Morricone's son, Andrea Morricone.
Well honestly he should wait for him as long as possible. You can't rush art. I don't see why they should.

Weird. Maybe because he scored Exorcist II? I don't know.

You can find information if you search Google and Google News.

It looks like the Weinsteins want this film released as soon as possible (i.e. summer) and they are rushing post, which interfers with Morricone's schedule. I agree that they should wait for Morricone, it's not like he's going to be around forever, but remember that these are the same guys who had in a hand in tossing out one of the great Elmer Bernstein's last scores for Gangs of New York.

No shit. I never knew that. Were they on the rough cut, because I have that and will rewatch that gigantic mess again if need be...

One of the rough cuts circulating reportedly includes the Elmer Bernstein score. His complete Gangs of New York score was also released recently on Varese Sarabande in a set that included two other rejected scores of his. Toward the last years of his life his scores were constantly being thrown out by Hollywood producers who were frightened of his "old fashioned" film scoring. Hollywood doesn't want scores like To Kill a Mockingbird or The Magnificent Seven in their films anymore. With that said, I'm happy Todd Haynes gave him Far From Heaven before his passing - I count that as one of the very best scores of his career.

I imagine if Tarantino doesn't call another Italian composer to score this, he will assemble his own Morricone soundtrack culed from some of Morricone's several hundred film scores (not to mention the hundreds of hours of library/television music Morricone has composed). If Tarantino does that (which wouldn't surprise me as he obviously wants this sound for his picture), it'd be possible to put a "Featuring Music Composed by Ennio Morricone" in the credits.

Is the rough cut, Scorsese's longer original cut? If so, I'd love it if someone could PM me and point me in the direction of where I could obtain it.

The director of the original, Enzo Castellari, is making a cameo that no one will notice or care about.

I'll second this, I'd appreciate a PM as well. Didn't know such a thing existed (in obtainable form, that is).

The teaser trailer makes its debut tomorrow on Entertainment Tonight (and then on YouTube about one second after).

A teaser for the teaser. Brad Pitt manages to look and sound ridiculous in less than twenty seconds.

I guess the thread title should be changed to Inglourious Basterds so we can be faithful to QTs dyslexia.
Seriously. Can anybody here explain the reason behind the misspellings?

Brad Pitt's character is a terrible speller (almost illiterate from the sounds of it), and that is how he writes it.

Perhaps this is his answer to The Reader.

Or maybe it is spelled that way to phonetically sound as how the French would pronounce in it in English?

Maybe there is a hip hop dance number at the end of the film.

My theory for the misspelling is that Tarantino originally accidentally misspelled the word 'bastard' in the leaked script. To hide his mistake he then intentionally misspelled 'inglorious' as 'inglourious'. Now everyone thinks he planned the misspelling(s) all along!

Would the MPAA have allowed him to spell "Bastards" correctly?

What business does an illiterate person have using a word like inglorious?

Well, he's not an illiterate person per se. He's an illiterate Southerner. From Kentucky or some such place.
They make sure to misspell with flair over there, I guess.
