The 2020 TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood has been canceled.

The health and safety of attendees are always our priority at any TCM event. In light of the increasing public health concerns related to coronavirus and after consultation with our internal and external partners, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 TCM Classic Film Festival

A Special Home Edition is taking its place.

His symptoms are actually mild. Unfortunately, Larry Campbell (recorded, toured and collaborated extensively with Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Levon Helm and others) is reportedly very ill with COVID-19.

The National Theatre is putting some of its recorded productions on YouTube free of charge over the next few weeks starting with James Corden in One Man, Two Guvnors followed by (at least) Jane Eyre, Treasure Island and Twelfth Night (with Tamsin Greig).

Also, several Science Fiction conventions - including WorldCon - are going online to a greater or lesser extent. For any fellow Dr Who fans out there, a virtual con Time Space Visualizer will be available through Fantom Events YouTube Channel on Saturday from 2pm GMT.

AFI Silver just announced that it is co-presenting on-demand streaming/downloads of Fantastic Fungi (I assume if you click on the link from AFI's web page, they will get a commission). Similar links for Bacurao and And Then We Danced are supposed to be forthcoming. Wonder if other arthouses will follow suit to bring in some revenue.

As an exhibitor, I'm supposed to hate VOD (video on demand), seeing it as an enemy out to destroy my family's 80+ year old business. However, I believe that people will always love going to the movie theatre, and that they recognize movie-going as the best way to appreciate what the filmmaker has created.
But right now, going to the movie theatre isn't an option. We all know why this is the case, and we're just going to have to accept it until we can get through this crisis.
These unprecedented times call for new alliances. So in partnership with a number of our indie distributors, we are launching the "Laemmle Virtual Cinema" program.
While the theatres are closed, we'll be emailing to let you know about new films which you can watch on VOD. The distributors will be sharing revenue directly with us, so that we have the resources to get through this mandatory closure, and can reopen our actual doors as soon as the coast is clear.
So please go ahead and pay to watch a movie online. You're not cheating on us. You'll actually be helping us. And together, we can keep the fires of arthouse cinema burning until this storm has passed.

An update from the band stated that Till does not have CV and is currently out of intensive care and is cognizant enough to say he's feeling better.

Jesus, that’s just awful. Not only the layoffs, but the (presumable) loss of one of the best film magazines in the country.

Well that sucks. I really like Film Comment... Aside from the magazine and writing, their podcasts are my favorite way to keep up with the festival circuit.

Terence Davies's new film Benediction was three days away from filming and is now on pause. His producer is hopeful they can resume quickly when given the go-ahead.

Depressing and only the beginning of stuff like this. This thing we all love and devote so much of our time to, film, is already a fragile and small subset of most people’s time and attention and money, and when things get rough, entertainment for a niche audience will be the first to go. Really hope they are able to reschedule the upcoming New Wave program if it’s not able to be held this summer
