I don't even have my Rohmer box yet and I live in DC. You'd think it would be quicker.

It's an intern or admin assistant handwriting the address labels so I don't think there's any real logic in the order they're sending them out.

Well, I have their phone number. I can always start calling it if I really want to pester them.

Don`t know where you`re from, but if you`re from outside the US (like me) than you can try e-mailing the shop you got your set from. That`s what I did (dvdpacific in my case) and they replied a couple of hours after I mailed them: they told they ship the booklet to me right away

Actually, I just got the booklet today (along with an 8 1/2 postcard!) directly from Sony's plant in Terre Haute. This makes sense, since it would have been Sony's fault that the booklet wasn't included, and isertion is an added cost that I'm sure Criterion was charged. It also explains the added delay, as I'm sure that Sony waited until they had a sizable shipping list before sending the mailing, rather than have the interns do it the way Criterion handled the Rohmer box.

Just wondering what those who just double-dipped on the single disc are doing with their packaging.
The new cover art doesn't match up very well with the old box.
The title 'Brazil' on the sleeve is not aligned with the title on the outside of the box, if you get my drift.
No biggie, but I just can't think what to do with my old disc 1 now, and am after some suggestions...

I put my old 3 disc cover over the new cover inside the sleeve, then swapped out the slightly uglier new book for the old one. so I have a match on the spine, nice clouds inside, anamorphic, and not typewritten text on the book. I win!

On his promo-tour for Tideland Terry Gilliam said that he was thinking of sueing the Bush administration for ripping off Brazil. Now how can you not love the guy?

That's awesome. He's one of my favorite directors and Brazil is my favorite film ever. Just want to say how great the newer 3 disc set looks and how glad I am that my favorite movie got the Criterion treatment.

Here's a really cool article in the DGA magazine with Gilliam talking about how he shot a sequence from the movie.

Incidentally, they also have a fantastic article of William Friedkin analyzing the famous chase sequence in The French Connection.

Got my replacement booklet in the mail today, only took two weeks. And I got a The Complete Mr. Arkadin A.K.A. Confidential Report postcard. Sweet.

What booklet is the Replacement one? Is there more than one booklet? I have one booklet in disc one, and an insert in discs two and three.

IMBb lists this as: 8.0/10 (49,326 votes) and yet it isn't in their Top 250. Most members here won't care, I know, but I've seen this before with other films like Barry Lyndon and assumed that there weren't enough votes for them, possibly. Well, I can't see any excuse with Brazil, and only wish that IMDb had a full accounting of its users' votes. I think Google is the only way to find all of the 8.0s and 8.1s, but it's hardly effective. Any ideas? Comments...?

I'm sure this is not something you don't know already, but you just gotta let it go with IMDB. They now have Grindhouse at 107, The Bourne Ultimatum at 57, and The Simpsons Movie at 183. It's a lost cause.

Don't take IMDb seriously. Brazil doesn't need to be at the top to be a good movie.

It's just a popularity contest, really.

This is something I've been wondering about for some time now. Why does the 1-Disc reissue feature the new Criterion logo/motif (as their reissues do such as Amarcord and Seven Samurai), but the 3-Disc reissue features the logos and motif that it was originally packaged with?

I wondered that, too. Frankly, I thought they were a bit lazy in leaving the 3-disc set as it was (with only the new anamorphic transfer added).

I was wondering whether the Welsh beach at Port Talbot that Gilliam mentions getting the initial idea for Brazil on is the same beach from the end of the original Get Carter?

I have no idea, but that beach looks like it's straight out of Tarr's Damnation.

I always thought that the beach sequence from Get Carter was filmed near Newcastle.
