I had actually tried to buy that, for some unexplained reason it won't ship to me.

The Blue Gardenia (1953) - Image
Blue Gardenia has a much better German version by Arthaus that is far superior to the Image disk. It is the German print however so some of the images (like the letter) have been localised.

matrixschmatrix: I had the same thing happen once with an Amazon UK Marketplace seller and asked Amazon UK about it. I just searched my email and quickly found their reply, which said that the seller had listed it with international shipping as an option but had "not yet subscribed for International Shipping or for Amazon Payments account from our end. ... To resolve the issue, please ask this seller to contact us directly so we can update the information after the formal procedure. You can contact the seller by the following steps: Click the seller nickname to access their information page. Then click the 'Contact this seller' link and sign in"

It is indeed superior.

However, it retails at 20 euros... And if you order from a third party on Amazon.de, it costs 15 euros to have it delivered to America...

I think "far" superior is a little outlandish based on those screencaps

Incidentally, I'd be happy to paypal anyone who could pick up a copy of that Cinema Club You Only Live Once- it looks like there's no way I can order it to the US, that I can see.
You can get this film from Australia, released by Universal/Studio Canal. It's a port of the UK disc and has an interview with Claude Chabrol as an extra. Very cheap, too.

Comparing screencaps of the two releases, I don't think it is. One is clearly superior to the other - not perfect, but clearly better.

I went through reviews of Exposure Cinema's other available titles and they were all pretty good as far as image and sound were concerned. So it might be a more than welcomed release for Lang fans. And that way I won't have to buy the Wild Side.

Have you seen the Madman release of Ministry of Fear? It has a commentary, but it's not in the Beaver comparison so I really have no idea of how good it looks.

edit: I'd be curious to know how the Madman Western Union stacks up against the Optimum, too.

Yesterday, I was checking Exposure's homepage (http://www.exposurecinema.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and they had a little poll online - which wasn't working for me - which Noir to release next. You could choose between Dark Mirror and Beyond a Reasonbale Doubt.
This poll seems gone.

Here is a review for the Aussie Western Union

Damn, sounds like the commentary is a piece of shit- that's a shame. The R2 caps look acceptable enough that I doubt it's worth paying double or triple for the Madman disc, then.

It's also the least of his three westerns, so I wouldn't place double-dipping at a high priority (personally at least)

The treatment of Native Americans in Western Union... ugh. Hard to believe Lang directed it.

I can't wait for a DVD release of While the City Sleeps, though.

Don't fret in the case of The Dark Mirror. It's currently available in a superior transfer from Germany with removable subtitles. Here.

"Beyond a Reasonable Doubt" and the under-seen "You and Me" are in desperate need of DVD releases.

Maybe Exposure will be their saviour, who knows!

Beyond a Reasonable Doubt is coming from Wild Side later this year I believe.

I thought Wild Side said it could be coming in 2011. An Exposure release could still come out first. However, they were doing a poll on their site to see if people want it released, which may mean they have no concrete plans yet.

I just got the e-m-s DVD this morning (thanks to tojoed) and all I can say is: Holy Macaroni!

'Hangmen' finally breathes. Miles and miles ahead of the Kino. Here are a few rapidly taken captures:
