In other news Fergie (as in that horrible pop singer) is in this? Ugh. Yet another reason I'm not particularly anticipating Tarantino's film.
But she probably meets some gruesome end. Surely that might remove the bitter taste?

Does anyone know why Mickey Rourke was dropped from being in the Grindhouse? He said that he is not saying anything about it, but I am mighty curious? I waited a long time to see him in a Tarantino film and I am dissapointed to see that it did not happen..
...anyone with any insight?

That's very true. I just hope we don't have to tolerate too much of her "acting" skills before she meets sweet justice.

We probably won't know for a long time. Rourke said in an interview that he's not saying anything until Tarantino does, which leads me to believe they had some kind of disagreement and are trying to stay professional about it.

First I'm hearing about this. Actually today I just found out Columbia had put Pulp Fiction into turnaround, and Miramax came with a check the first opportunity they could. Anyone know how I can read more about this period of time? It never seems to get any light...

There is a great book about Miramax and the whole indie film scene of the late 1980s to 1990s called Down and Dirty Pictures: Miramax, Sundance, and the Rise of Independent Film . Very funny.

This quote makes me weep for humanity...
Fergie on working with Quentin Tarantino: “In one scene Quentin got really into the character and bit me. I'm not going to sue him or anything. It was crazy cool.â€

He confesses to having a foot fetish as often as he can, so I sometimes wonder how many times they shot the "drinking tequila from selma's feet" scene in From Dusk till Dawn.

If I remember it correctly, Quentin plays a rapist in the movie, maybe that's how the biting came about.

The film has officially been rated R for "strong graphic bloody violence and gore, pervasive language, some sexuality, nudity and drug use."
And the running time has been finalized, with fake trailers, at 3 hours and 5 minutes.

Hold on, there....these trailers may not necessarily be "fake"...has anyone thought that Tarantino or Rodriguez may develop these trailers some time down the road into features? These directors are full of suprises...I would not put it passed them to make a follow up on one or two of them...

Sounds like they've played it safe on the sexual content, then. To be expected; hardly 'Grindhouse' though....

How fucking lovely, they're splitting Grindhouse in two for the release in Finland. Apparently someone got greedy.
Shit like this happening anywhere else with the Grindhouse release?

Apparently, everywhere outside of North America is getting the film split in two. I posted an article about it on a previous page. That really sucks.

One of them is already being developed into a straight-to-DVD film (the one featuring the character Machete) so I imagine once they gauge which ones are most popular with audiences, the same will happen with the others.

The film is split in two all across Europe. Sometimes, with a several months gap. I won't watch this film split in half. I'll wait for the dvd.

Movietickets.com and Boxofficemojo.com are listing the running time at 2hr 45min, while some of those reviews linked here still say the whole thing runs over 2 hrs and 50mins not counting the trailers. Has anyone found confirmation yet on exactly how long Grindhouse is exactly?

Most sources I've seen and IMDB confirm that the running time, including fake trailers, is 185 minutes.

Unfortunately, IMDB isn't reliable at all these days. I can't tell you how many times they rejected the official, announced cast lists that I submitted to them for Grindhouse. Bruce Willis is still not listed for it, The Hip Hop Project, or even What Just Happened?. Lately, my friends and I have found Wikipedia of all places to be more useful in this regard. Considering Movietickets.com gets their information directly from distributors, I want to hear a more credible source confirm the 185 minute running time. Can you remember what the other sources were?

Tarantino will be screening a longer cut of
Death Proof at Cannes. I'm guessing the extended footage will include the complete car chase sequence he had to edit for the
Grindhouse. From Variety:
Tarantino grinds out Cannes plan
Festival getting longer 'Death Proof'
By SHARON SWART, ANNE THOMPSON
Kurt Russell in 'Grindhouse'
Cannes' favorite son, Quentin Tarantino, is likely making another trip to the film festival in May.
As already reported, Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's double feature "Grindhouse" will be split into two separate films for non-English-speaking markets. Tarantino said he's working on a longer version of his "Death Proof" segment that looks to be headed to the Croisette.
Given Tarantino's Cannes history, it's possible "Death Proof" could land a competition slot at fest's 60th edition this year. He won Cannes' top prize in 1994 with "Pulp Fiction." "Reservoir Dogs" (1992) and "Kill Bill: Vol. 2" (2004) were shown out of competition, and he served as president of the jury in 2004.
Just how much longer Tarantino may be making his 87-minute conversation-and-car-chase-packed actioner couldn't be confirmed, but added scenes may involve more character development and extended action.
"He could do a two-hour version of it if he wanted," said Eli Roth, who directed one of the fake trailers featured in "Grindhouse" and also played the role of libidinous cad Dov in "Death Proof." "Monday was the first time he saw it with an audience, and it played really well, so I honestly don't know how Quentin is going to feel."
"Planet Terror," Rodriguez's gory horror segment of "Grindhouse," may be gunning for a berth at Cannes as well.
Rodriguez's "Sin City," for which Tarantino served as "Special Guest Director," competed at Cannes in 2005.
The Weinstein Co.'s "Grindhouse" bows Stateside on April 6; international rollout begins May 31. Cannes runs May 16-27.
