'Manliness' is an interesting term. In classical Rome the taboo was not against having sex but rather with the disgraceful and unRoman activity of being a bottom rather than a top. Which is arguably more absurd on a purely mathematical level than Greece's supposedly great tradition of Hellenic manliness.
