At the moment, there are no plans for a blu-ray release of the film.

The specs match the Portuguese DVD (Midas Films) and even include an additional extra.
Will there be English subtitles only for spoken dialogue or for the songs as well?
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this.

The boys are really cooking. They're up there with MoC in my book and second only to BFI. If anyone cares.

Has Hong ever had proper theatrical distribution in the US? Really great news and I hope we get a DVD (or Blu! But I don't want to push my luck here...) up to the usual Cinema Guild standards. Definitely one of the best companies out there!

New Yorker released two of his films, but CG will give him his first great American transfer. I can only hope this is a signal of more Hong in the future.

In the City of Sylvia has been released on
Japanese Blu-Ray recently in the 1.78:1 ratio. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't specify if the disc is English-friendly.
edit: Did some digging and alas, the Japanese Blu comes without English subs.

Anyone else have trouble with the State I Am In? It looks like my copy is flagged at the wrong aspect ratio, as the 1.66 is squashed into the 1.37 frame, making it literally unwatchable. There's nothing wrong with my player or settings, I've played countless films before or since properly, so it's not on my end.

THE STATE I AM IN is a Project X Distribution title
http://www.projectxdistribution.com. They'll be able to confirm the aspect ratio and answer any questions about the disc. You can reach them at 416-604-2506.

I'm presently thrilled at the titles Cinema Guild has released and will be releasing; I sincerely hope that blu-ray releases become standard for each title, because, for me, that is a HUGE factor influencing me to buy! Does anyone know if the Turin Horse will be released on BD, or just dvd?

That's indeed a goal of ours, especially for our theatrical titles, so you can definitely expect more blu-rays from us in 2012, including hopefully TURIN HORSE.
In the meantime stay tuned for exciting news on our STRANGE CASE OF ANGELICA blu-ray this week.

I've been clicking your page daily for news on Angelica's supplements, so it'll be a relief to finally get the goods.
Have you guys considered taking the Masters of Cinema/BFI route and issuing your applicable releases as dual format titles?

We've considered it but felt it makes more sense to do single DVD and Blu-ray releases. Seems like that's what people prefer as well, if there are blu-ray versions of the titles. Do you feel otherwise?

I know on the level of an international customer I prefer because for example I can't play the Blu for La Signora senza Camelie right now, but own it because I have the DVD. On the other hand there are plenty of releases done the way you do it that are region locked that I haven't gotten yet because I might be able to go region free soon. So while your US customers might not have anything to worry about your international ones might.

I'm a US customer, so while knives makes a good point as well, I was mostly asking because Cinema Guild is a small company, and with the dual format path *seemingly* being the financially safer route, I was only curious as to whether or not you had considered it. Personally, I think single format editions are much more aesthetically pleasing, but I don't begrudge Masters of Cinema or the BFI for taking the dual format route.
I'll be buying The Turin Horse on whatever format you offer.
