Chaplin's 31-minute The Cure as a standalone title doesn't seem plausible.

I vote Island of Lost Souls.

That's actually a detail of 1/2500 of the cover. It's The 5,000 Fingers of Dr T.

I meant the one by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Sorry, it's just Cure.

Just curious, what about that image makes you think it's Cure?

I think it has something to do with the Ron Paul banner below my post. BTW, f*ck Ron paul.

I'm guessing because of this poster:

Island of Lost Souls certainly seems most likely.
Spoiler
The reveal of Lota's fingers sets the third act in motion:

I'd agree. It looks like pinky, ring finger, claw and the orange bit looks like a bottom profile of some type of skull with scientific notations.

The grainy medical textbook look is something I've seen in a fair number of movies- I'm actually reminded of Se7en, though that doesn't make a lot of sense as a Criterion- but yeah, it's fingers with claws at the end, and medical-textbook imagery makes sense for Island of Lost Souls, even if not actually used in that way within the film.

I'm not sure why, but the style reminded me of the poster for Cure. Now that I look at it again, not so much. I'm with Island Of Lost Souls now. I still think Cure could be announced tomorrow.

I'm also reminded of Se7en. No doubt if they were to ever reclaim the rights to it, they'd use a similar style... I'd hope.

In light of the existing, exhaustive special edition Blu currently in print, Se7en would be the most unnecessary Criterion release of all time.

Oh, I'm well aware of that. I'm just hypothesizing. The Blu-Ray for Se7en is actually very good. Still, the style of this upcoming cover is reminiscent of (the opening sequence of??) it. Preliminary thoughts: the cover looks interesting and has potential. I admittedly haven't seen Island Of Lost Souls, so I can't testify as to whether or not it communicates the style/themes well; but that's talk for the Cover Art board, I guess.

B-b-b-but Criterion must release everything, even if it has a recent (fantastic) Blu-ray release. They must do it, they must!

If Criterion doesn't release it, the film must suck.

Yeah, I'm glad Criterion saw what a stinker Last Tango In Paris was, and decided not to release it as a DVD. [Those crazy laserdisc years. Thank God Criterion has matured.] (Okay, that's my one joke for the day.

Se7en = New Line = Warner Bros. = No sub-licensing.

Now they are just messing with everyone by posting this - which of course has the blu fanboys having blugasms in anticipation.

To boost sales. I have no doubt in my mind that when they post something about one of their films the sales increase slightly. That picture probably took as many as five boxes off the shelf.
