Not sure if we already knew this, but Lee Chang-Dong is showing up on Criterion's site when searching for directors. He currently has 0 films associated with him, but perhaps something is forthcoming? Not familiar with this director, but have heard of Peppermint Candy and his latest Poetry. Is this new news?

Also listed is Robert Rossen and Douglas Cheek. So CHUD* and Body and Soul?
*The CHUD thing is still a joke right?

I just don't see Criterion doing those films in the mainline.
But an Eclipse of "1990s SNL Cinema", would be tremendous. The essays alone would be worth the sticker price. They should get that Gene Youngblood guy.

Nick on Criterion Facebook page wrote:I'm curious as to what happened to that "Alexander the Great" title that was accidentally leaked during the July announcements. Will we be getting it by year's end, or will we have to wait until 2012?

Possible Supplement: New Rants by Jean Doumanian and Charles Rocket! (Too soon? Hopefully not.)
Yeah, the '80-'81 season is certainly... interesting. :-k

He isn't showing up anymore.

I swear they do that on purpose before release day just to see if any of us catch it.

I haven't heard anything about
Emigrants and
New Land getting a release, but that'd be amazing if they are. That'd be the heaviest release of the year if they do that, though. It'd overshadow
Carlos, even. (Seriously, they're afraid to release
Out 1!)

This was recently posted on Criterion's site. Not sure I'd call it a clue though.

they hinted that it was in the works on Facebook, and there was some reference to Everlasting Moments not being the end of their Jan Troell output.
and I want it so badly it's my default prediction now (replacing Senso

)

That's great news. I hadn't heard that, and I guess I'm glad I hadn't since that cuts down on painful anticipation time. I look forward to this, as well; but how do you mean "replacing
Senso" as your default prediction?

My guesses:
A Brighter Summer Day
Red River
Vigo set
Cul de Sac
Reissues:
39 Steps
Le Samourai
Eiichi Kudo on Eclipse (I wish)

Yeah, I've changed my mind about The Killing. I think that Red River and Y Tu Mama Tambien will get a release before it. I still hold out hope for Carlos being announced tomorrow. (There's no smiley for "optimism.")

It probably doesn't mean a thing but
Before The Rain is the only Criterion Blu-Ray showing up as "
Not Announced" on
DVD Aficionado.
OTOH it fits nicely with the "another upgrade that no one is asking for" logic...

I'll work up some guesses tonight, once I get home from work. I'm finally back at my day job, after two weeks of paternity leave.
I think it's safe to say that Cul-de-sac and the Vigo set are very safe bets. The Orpheus Blu-ray would be awesome as well.
