That's great news. I'd love to see more of his work.
Icarus Films is the company you seek (for both Level Five and 'more Marker'), not Criterion.
Yeah, I was just going to say that Marker is actually very well represented on home video nowadays. By my rough count, about thirty of his films are currently available in English-friendly editions (including
Level Five), with a few more available in France unsubbed (and thus likely on Icarus' horizon). The remaining films are almost all shorts, with maybe half a dozen of them running over half an hour.

Shows how much I know. How have I not learned by now to do more research before asking questions here (although you guys probably answer my questions more quickly than Google could!)? Thanks, SpiderBaby and zedz, for the info.

No problem, and to follow up,
here is the Chris Marker page on the Icarus Films' site listing all of the Marker releases, including a couple that was just released last Nov/Dec. 'Far From Vietnam' is $20 on Amazon ($18.54 on DeepDiscount) as we speak (the latest of the Marker releases).

I don't think this had been officially confirmed but its lack of MPI R1 distribution (not to mention its reputation) seemed evidence enough, but: Criterion does plan to release Cristian Mungiu's Beyond the Hills, right? We've gone through two Cannes since its debut and its fellow 2012 Competition compadre Like Someone in Love finally got the nod earlier this year.
I'll go ahead and predict that and 4 Months for tomorrow and will them into existence.

Today being Ferragosto, we should maybe expect something Italian...

This is as close to a confirmation as you can get that it's coming.

Is this a prediction or an announcement? I can't find anything on the website.
Forthcoming Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vol. 6

I'm assuming it's a prediction, because Criterion doesn't usually start updating until much later in the day. Unless he got it from another source, like Amazon.
Maybe there should be a rule about how, on announcement day, all predictions should be explicitly labeled as such.

MOD NOTE FOR NEW USERS: We do not approve "guessing" posts from users who are so new they still need their initial posts approved. Listing a bunch of titles is a stupid pastime we all participate in only because we've proved our worthiness elsewhere on the forum first. Please stop registering just to post titles, I'm already tired of disapproving these posts today

Speaking of Renoir, it'd be nice to get A DAY IN THE COUNTRY sometime. And just scrolling through the "Online Only" Hulu offerings makes my imagination run in all kinds of wild directions:
HISTORY IS MADE AT NIGHT!
PEPPERMINT FRAPPE!
LE CEREMONIE!
EL SUR!
LISTING A BUNCH OF TITLES IS A STUPID PASTIME WE ALL PARTICIPATE IN!

I'd really love to El Sur with an upgrade of Spirit of the Beehive (which is way overdue in my opinion).

It would be a shame if Partie de campagne remained a hulu-only release. With the history of the film, its reputation, and its connection to his father's work, it seems there should be plenty of opportunity to put together a nice physical release. The BFI DVD, for instance, looks like quite a nice package, though I have no experience with the features included on that release.

I'm hoping that since it's Friday the desire to get out of the office for the weekend will mean the announcements happen a little sooner than they have been doing lately.
Of course, what will probably happen is they'll delay the announcements to Monday...

They added a 1975 interview from "Tomorrow" with Welles to F for Fake. Also, PlayTime has more commentaries.

I'm not afraid to admit that the thing I want the most are the Les Blank documentaries. They have completely charmed me and the more that can be packed into a gigantic set, the better. Anything else would simply be icing...
