Great, they're releasing my two favorite Woody Allen movies back-to-back, I'm talking about wheat.

Yep. Looks like i'm definitely buying a couple of titles from them now. Then I can cozy on down and watch them while I eat my bowl of sleet.

A comic sans gold star is ill praise indeed.

I like how the flash is coming from behind John Wayne's hand rather than the end of the gun. Based on the warped skyline behind him, I'd like to think that space is bending, and when he pulled the trigger, the bullet got sucked through some sort of wormhole and came out two feet to his right and is now coming straight at him. Wacky hi jinks.

Or it's basically an original poster image...

No, that design monstrosity is inspired by an original poster image, a huge difference

Anyone have the Man from Laramie blu? Just put mine in, don't have an expert Beaver eye, or know what the original would have looked like (Technicolor and Cinemascope), but I'm not blown away or hugely disappointed..

I almost broke into tears (figuratively speaking) when I saw how good Laramie looks, and I didn't even watch it all the way through.

I can see why. Compared to the grey-brown mess of a DVD (with some heavily oversaturated reds)that has represented the film for so long, this Blu-Ray is a revelation. That The Man From Laramie is a top 10 western for me makes it all the sweeter. Sony did good work here.

Twilight Time wrote:Twilight Time regrets to announce that our planned August 12th release of the Jerome Kern classic musical CENTENNIAL SUMMER on blu-ray has been indefinitely postponed. This is due to ongoing and unresolved rights issues that prevent the film from being made available to home video at this time. It is hoped that one day in the not too distant future this situation will be rectified, but in the meantime we will adjust and revise our schedule accordingly. Along with many of you we are disappointed that the wait for this long out-of-print film will continue for that bit longer....

Also, the remake of The Vanishing has been added to their October slate (I suspect Criterion will release their disc the same month).

Can it really be out of print if it was never in print to begin with? Still, sucks but not surprising given Preminger's luck with musicals and eventual rights (though this is the best of the lot, unfortunately)

Man Hunt has also been moved up to 8/12 from 10/14 to fill the gap from the delay on Centennial Summer

Twilight Time have stated here that they have re-licensed at least 4 of their currently sold out titles for re-release in 2015. I imagine these will probably be Mysterious Island, Fright Night, Journey to the Center of the Earth and The Big Heat, though possibly Night of the Living Dead as well.

Good news for those who missed out, though maybe not so much for those who were hoping to pick these up from Sony/Fox or a different boutique label.
