Gonna be a while on HOOP DREAMS. Janus will likely tour the new print in advance of a Bluray release several months down the road.

Does Janus hold the theatrical rights? I thought Steve James' company (Kartemquin Films) was handling the road show of the 20th anniversary print.

Is this a prediction or an announcement? I can't find anything on the website.
Prediction/hope! Sorry, should have made it clearer I guess.

In an alternate reality, this would mean we're getting AFTER HOURS.

Great price/horrible cover on the Hellmans.

Can't argue with any month that has that Les Blank set, but I can't say that November quite reaches the heights that October did. Then again, what does?

can't complain about the Hellman's being sold together at $39.95 - but that cover...oof. And seems awfully light for what is usually their biggest month. Only one upgrade?

Just between Hellman and Blank, they're releasing sixteen films.

L'Avventura on Blu and that amazing Les Blank set compensate for my hostility towards all things Sydney Pollack, I guess.

23 if you count the other 7 shorts listed just in the bonus on the Blank set

This is the firtst time I recall an Octorber line-up being stronger than November's.

The Brood in December and Mulholland Drive in January. You heard it here first. ;-)

To be honest, I'm glad that of the November bunch I only want the Hellman despite the cover (maybe the individual artwork will be better? fingers crossed) and maybe L'Avventura. October is going to be very expensive for my and I imagine most everyone else's wallet as it is.

Aren't they pretty much the same? One mouthwatering box set and four or five fairly predictable/canonical Blu-ray upgrades.

The most obvious of obvious predictions should have been the Les Blank set two days before Thanksgiving.

I can't help but think we'll see some more Capra in CC. 5 of the Columbia Capra's have been (4k) restored. I could see another two being released by CC and the remaining two going to TT.

Deeds and Mr Smith to Criterion, You Can't Take It With You and Lost Horizon (Hell, they already released the musical) to TT? (Assuming these are the other four)

Correct on the remaining four. I was thinking more that You Can't Take it With You being a CC release, as they love themselves some screwball comedies, and Deeds going to TT.

Is there a musical remake of Mr Deeds? (Serious question)

There have been more restored but not in 4K, as indicated in this Sight & Sound article

Heaven help me, many parts of that film do make me laugh, including the stupid Space Oddity scene. Turturro's scenes especially.

As for the Capra's and who gets what - frankly, I don't see Criterion passing on any of the others if offered to them.
