The new Some Like it Hot is astonishingly bad for a serious commercial product. It's as if it were made by an arts-deficient teenager just 10 minutes after learning the rudiments of Photoshop.

It's still better than the cover for the double dip of The Apartment. MGM seems to hate Billy Wilder.

Good lord, I'd almost forgotten that abomination. And, yeah, it's worse. The execution is perhaps not as sloppy, but the design scheme is just awful. Hurts all the more since The Apartment is a favorite of mine. At least the disc itself is a hell of an improvement over the old one. But, man, does that cover make the film a hard(er) sell to my less-adventurous friends.

I think in Some Like It Hot extras it was said that another model was used for Marilyn's body on all the promotional artwork - she was pregnant at the time.

I had the same problem with my girlfriend. She stared suspiciously at the cover.

Comparing the blu-ray banner of that to the one for Some Like It Hot above I think it might be more a problem with the jpeg than the actual cover.

I think you meant to put that in the best covers thread.

Given that it's a head, this would have been perfect for the (missing) BARTON FINK!
