Anthony Page, aged 90. He worked mostly on stage and television, but did direct several feature films, including Inadmissible Evidence (1968) for Woodfall, Absolution (which Indicator put out on Blu-ray, now OOP), the 1979 remake of The Lady Vanishes, and others.

Bob Petit For-ever

by Lemmy Caution
Bob Petit, 93. NBA Power Forward legend from 1955-65.
Averaged 26 & 16 boards for his career, along with 10 FTs per game. First player to score 20K points, in just 11 seasons. an all-star in every year of his career. Retired as the NBA all time career scoring leader, to be bested by Wilt the next year. Retired at age 32 to pursue a banking career while still a force. One of the first players to do serious weight training, bulking up from a 6 foot 9 210 pound rookie to a 240 pound bruiser. Basically the Karl Malone of his day.
Played so long ago that the NBA didn't even have an MVP award in his rookie year. Petit won the inaugural MVP his 2nd season. And another a few years later. Played so long ago that the Hawks were in St. Louis for all his career, except his first season when they were in Milwaukee.
Led his team to 4 finals in 5 years (in an 8 team league).
Petit and Wilt the only players to lead their team to a title over Russell's Celtics. In one of the great closeout performances, Petit racked up a remarkable 50 points and 19 rebounds in the deciding Finals Game 6, scoring 19 of his teams last 21 points in a one point win.

I'd had no idea she was still with us, RIP. There are only so many major NV actors left, though of course they're just about the longest-lived cohort beyond the original
West Side Story. Outside of Deneuve, who is still very active (she'll be in three movies releasing this year) and Léaud, Wikipedia informs me that Jean-Pierre Kalfon, Bulle Ogier, and Sami Frey are still alive.
EDIT: and if actor-directors count, Luc Moullet

I don’t know if he’s major as an actor, but Barbet Schroeder is still alive as well, as is Macha Méril.

Still love the trivia that Meril was married to Michel Legrand but only recently
Catherine Rouvel is also still with us

Jean-Pierre Léaud is still with us. It is hard to believe that he is 82. (Oops just noting the he was mentioned above). Finally saw him in Jerzy Skolimowski's Le Depart (The Departure) (1967) which has eluded me for decades. The film certainly owes a lot to the new wave and was a fun ride.

Are we counting Isabelle Huppert who got her start at the very end of the new wave?
Dominique Labourier is still around, as is Jean Claude Drouot.

Schroeder is one of those guys that I always think has passed and then look up and he’s still with us.

Huppert’s first film wasn’t until 1972, so I don’t see how she could be considered a New Wave alumnus.

Apparently Vlady had made several appearances at La Cinémathèque française in recent years. Wish I could've attended one of those screenings, that would've been great to hear her discuss some of those films.

FWIW, it's Silvia D’Amico Bendicò, not to be mistaken for the much younger Silvia d’Amico who is still alive.

Silvia D’Amico Bendicò makes a valuable contribution to the 2025 feature documentary
Roberto Rossellini, più di una vita (English title: Roberto Rossellini living without a script) where she is identified by caption as Silvia D'Amico, I guess her name when she worked with & was in a relationship with Rossellini 1974-1977... Hence the
IMDB page for the film mistakenly identifies the younger woman of the same name as participating instead LOL!...
The reasoning behind her use of the two surnames is apparently explained so...

I can't see any online obituaries yet, but Australian experimental filmmaker Arthur Cantrill died on 24 September aged 88. He often worked with his wife Corinne (who died in 2025, aged 96).
