I saw On Moonlight Bay has been added to HBOMax, so that plus the fact that it's terrible must mean a WA Blu-ray is coming soon, right

Has anyone received their blu of
The Shop Around The Corner? I haven't heard anything about my order in weeks and I've already received everything else I bought a few weeks before Christmas.
I was wondering the same thing: Both 'The Shop Around the Corner' and 'Young Man with a Horn' have not shipped yet, whereas all other items in my order shipped long ago.

I heard about this through a Sondheim-loving (and former theater major) friend. IIRC Todd Haynes directed one of the segments.
At one point D A Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus were approached to direct the whole thing before it mutated into what we have here, and I believe some of the newly shot footage was theirs.

Followed by A Tale of Two Cities, as leaked yesterday, and Kazan's Baby Doll so far.
The Sondheim doc is amusing and informative enough. Despite being a former theater major, I've never been a big Sondheim fan, but I watched it as a Haynes completionist since he directs one of the music video-style performance segments, of Jarvis Cocker singing "I'm Still Here."

Baby Doll so far.
What a long-overdue pleasant surprise! The only caveat is that the film demands contextual extras and I'm afraid WA won't deliver- but either way, thrilled for this announcement

Agreed, I'm looking forward to this one. I'm surprised that it's coming before Splendor in the Grass but this is Warner Archive after all

There was an interview bonus with the surviving cast on the previous DVD where they went into the reception, I’m sure it gets brought over. This is an essential upgrade!!

Release specs state there's a bonus feature - "Baby Doll: See No Evil - vintage featurette". Not sure if this is the one you are thinking of.

Six by Sondheim isn't my favorite Sondheim-related work (I find a few of the song choices a little pat, and the casting is undoubtedly pretty safe and bland), but
the "Opening Doors" segment is worth seeing for Sondheim's perfectly hammy performance of his own material.

“Vintage” is a bit comical given that it was made for the DVD all of fifteen years ago, but that is indeed it

I'll probably pick this up to revisit it, but in my head I had mixed the movie up with In Old Chicago for whatever reason so was briefly more excited as that's definitely one I liked quite a bit more. Will not complain about them putting out pretty much anything at this point though

Yep, In Old Chicago 100% ripped off San Francisco’s formula but did it much better. I get why Warners would release a disaster film on Blu-Ray, but oof, I think anyone enticed by the promise of such a thing should be aware of how much of the film they’ll have to sit through to get to it

Well, I’m really excited about San Francisco myself, I was just planning on finally grabbing the DVD thinking an upgrade would probably never happen.

Preemptive Bob F (don't summon his Google Alerts pls) "This is technically filmed and released in both widescreen and Academy and shot to protect both ratios," but having seen this movie many, many times, Warners were right with their initial instinct to release it in the open matte Academy version. I can't imagine how some of the Baker/Wallach scenes would even be watchable with the top and bottom cropped off

This is the same guy who is known for his archival work and (more recently) "three-dee" presentations at respectable film institutions? Is he known to stir up trouble here?
