Edward Norton in a Wes Anderson movie? I'll admit, that's not something I would have expected to see. With a couple of exceptions (most notably 25th Hour), Norton's spent the last decade avoiding starring in films by established auteurs. I had frankly come to believe the rumors that he was overly hands-on and controlling.
Sounds great, though.

The story sounds great, hopefully something more adult than Fantastic Mr. Fox. I liked that film, but feared a little it would be a direction Wes would go in for films to come. Nobody currently does R-rated comedies better, in my opinion. Plus the potential of Willis and Murray on-screen together is promising.

I hadn't noticed this, but, yeah, you're right. After working with Woody Allen, Milos Forman, David Fincher and Spike Lee in a relatively short period of time, he really dropped off the map in this sense. To me, this seems inexorably related to his artistic decline. A shame since, in the late nineties, he struck me (and many others) as the most excitingly talented young actor in some time. Perhaps Ratner infected him with airborne hackiness during the
Red Dragon shoot.

You all know
Fantastic Mr. Fox is a kidflick by design, right?

It's not hard to picture Edward Norton as a scoutmaster, really

Of course, but the things I was hearing before today was that his next film would be of that same vein.

That was the first thing that came to my mind. Especially in a context of a Wes Anderson film, I think it won't be that hard to buy.

New title, won't be a sequel, etc.
Fox is really letting him do that?

It's probably because they see Aronofsky as an adult director and they are going to try to give the series credibility. I have no reason to believe this is going to be anything more than a stale mess a la Christopher Nolan's superhero masturbation.

Good news:
Carey Mulligan to play Daisy Buchanan in new
Gatsby adaptation.
Bad news: Baz Luhrmann is directing a new
Gatsby adaptation.

Couldn't they have gotten a less boyish-looking actress to play Daisy?

Greg Mottola has a new film called
Paul with one
god-awful poster
I'm a fan of his, but this looks like a big misfire.

I'm holding out for the red-band trailer since this film is suppose to be dirty.

Peter Bogdanovich and Jeff Bridges are discussing another possible McMurtry adaptation:
Larry McMurtry wrote five novels set in the fictional town of Thalia, Texas: The Last Picture Show, Texasville, Duane’s Depressed, When The Light Goes, and Rhino Ranch. The first two were filmed by Peter Bogdanovich, in 1971 and 1991, some twenty years apart. It would seem that, with 2011 just around the corner, the time is perfect for a return to the series and a third big screen trip to Thalia.
Collider had a chat with Jeff Bridges today at the TRON: Legacy junket and came back with this promising possibility, in the words of the actor:
I was just in Texas with Peter [Bogdanovich] and we’re looking at doing the next installment…there’s actually five books that Larry McMurtry wrote about those characters and so we’ve done two and we wanna do the next thing. I don’t know if that’s ever happened before, every 20 years going back and doin’ that. So that’s something I’m hopin’ will come about.
Peter also has Squirrel to the Nuts in preproduction with Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach attached as producers. Hopefully at least one of these two projects get made.

When they get around to Rhino Ranch in 2051, Bogdanovich will be turning 112, with the younger Bridges still spry at 111.

Spielberg Casts Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln. I have to say I was really attached to the idea of Liam Neeson as Honest Abe, but I think this could be the better choice.

You've aged Mr. Bridges prematurely: he will be a mere 102 in 2051.

There's no need for another Wuthering Heights film.
There's definitely no need for another Andrea Arnold film.
