It's a reflection in a pond or something, it's meant to be upside down.

All the copies I've seen of the Demy set in stores have at least a little black scuffing on one or more of the corners. This is why I don't own a white couch...

The two at the store I went to both had it, and in the same place. (If you're looking at the "spine" of the box, it's the upper left corner.) At first it looked like a torn corner, but when the sales clerk handed me the second copy and we saw it had the same thing, it seemed to be a kind of damage from rubbing. Not really sure, though. (I'm happy with the one I took which is perfect in every other way.)

Mine's got some dents on the spines of some of the individual film cases, but it was either buy that (best condition of any of the three in stock at my store) or take a gamble on bn.com. So. It's the discs that matter, right? *rocks slowly*

I've heard that if your Demy set has the black scuff on it, the video transfer for Lola will be ruined.

The Demy box looks quite nice in person, but I really wish Criterion would use some decent card stock for their boxsets. They're so cheap and flimsy and prone to dents and marks. When you compare them to the MoC boxes, they lack a real premium touch.

I still can't believe this cover was deemed satisfactory.

Why didn't they just use the inside cover? So much more eye-catching and straightforward.

The booklet cover is exactly what the cover image should have been.

I feel like I'm reading the Twilight Time thread.

Speaking of interior artwork, I really like what's been done with the design for Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, including its depiction of the bathtub scene on the rear of the cover and even the art chosen for the discs. The whole package is all really nicely connected, to itself and the film. A pity this wasn't a digipack.

I thought the Dual-Format edition is a 3-discs set. Criterion website is still listing it as a 3 discs set.

Just out of curiosity, but can someone ask for a refund on Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! based on the fact that the product was not as advertised (3 discs)?

I wonder if the Monte Hellman cover is like Mishima, and looks better in person? It looks like a mess to me.

Kinda looks like a John Gall collage to me.

EDIT: It's a John Gall collage.

I really love this cover, actually. If this had been the Janus poster, it'd be on my wall right now.

Not a fan of any of the other covers, though.

L'AVVENTURA is the best cover this month. It's also the only one that's good.

The Hellman cover likes like a Vintage paperback of some acclaimed 'world literature' writer.
