Most forum members celebrate Festivus, except the Airing of Grievances happens year round.

At the risk of getting booted out of the forum, I refuse to believe that any month with Limelight could possibly be the best of anything. Perhaps it could be paired in a box set with A Woman of Paris under the title Chaplin Should Have Stuck To Comedy: Here's Why.

You won't get booted out of the forum, I'll just cover my eyes every time I see your username from now on.

If you check somebody's profile, there's a "add foe" option next to the "add friend" option. I don't know what it does, but you could always try that out!

Well, I hope that he was just kidding. A mere disagreement about the quality of a film or in this case, two dreadfully boring ones from a comedic genius, (is this what it feels like to be an internet troll? If so, I'm kind of enjoying it) needn't roil the blood.

I had never heard of that movie before, but looking it up I couldn't help but giggle at a "goof" IMDB had listed:
Takes place in Virgina, but Virgina cars have front and back plates.

I was kidding! But I can't help but hope now that Limelight will be announced on Monday to please me AND to spite you.

So long as it clears their schedules to work on one of his dozen more deserving films, I'm all for it too! :D

They can always license A Countess from Hong Kong from Universal to complete their Chaplin feature oeuvre.

Uh, guys I just got this left on my doorstep:

I've opened the lid and keep hitting the button presuming that it has something to do with either the Borowczyk box set or browning Criterions, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything? Should I keep pressing it?

Posted on twitter/tumblr earlier, not that it necessarily guarantees anything

I have a great fondness for Renoir's Les bas-fonds, though it certainly isn't among my favourites of his '30s films. I'd much prefer an upgrade of Boudu or La bete humaine, or a surprise like Le crime de Monsieur Lange, but an upgrade of The Lower Depths set would be far from disappointing.

I think posts like that happen all the time and mean very little. With Boudu available in Region 2, we know there's an HD master, and I believe La Bete Humaine was just restored as well. But Lange is WAY up on my wishlist. Seems to be a true classic from one of the greats that is surprisingly hard to come by on home video.

Jean Renoir would have been 120 today. Perhaps that's the reason.

Oh, hell yes. I'm a big Maddin fan, and I'm of the opinion that My Winnipeg is his best, most important work. I have the Canadian DVD release that came with a book, but I'd happily hold onto that and double dip on a Criterion blu-ray of this title. And either way, it's nice to see it get a U.S. physical media release that isn't exclusive to fucking Blockbuster Video, like what IFC originally pulled with this title.
