Red River is coming eventually, but probably not any time soon. We have a
whole thread for discussion of the many directors with "phantom web pages." La Notte,
I Married a Witch, and
The Uninvited are only of particular interest here because pages for their cast and crew were added today, the 15th, which is always a sign that Criterion is preparing the pages for them in advance of their announcement.

Man... if we get these AND the Cronenbergs, this'll be a helluva month. Even just those three releases would make it a great month.

I see that they've added some sort of 32 character code to the URLs of cover images, so there's no way of accessing them early.

Unless someone figures out the algorithm/encryption.

Is it common for any blu upgrades to have broken image links on the expanded view listing? Right now, I see that the images for John Cassavetes: Five Films and Magnificent Obsession are broken on the expanded view. That would be a bit much to expect in one month, though, I would imagine.

Not in expanded view but there was a broken image link on a film's page prior to blu upgrade. I think it was a Bergman film...

It happens when new versions of covers are uploaded. They've just updated The Big City too.
Update: All the cover files now have _original suffix, so that might be the reason.

"New cover by Lucien S. Y. Yang" now appears in the description for both L'AVVENTURA and L'ECLISSE.

That information has been there for weeks now, it's for the "old" covers.
Google cache confirms it:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... -avventura" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... -l-eclisse" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I noticed that as well, but then I saw that all of them has "New cover by..."

Please let the Cronenbergs be in the lineup for October. I'd take that over Antonioni any day.

What time do they usually announce the titles?

They do like those paired titles in December, though.. could see Scanners/Brood or the 2 oldest Sirks making sense that month..

About 90 minutes from now.

Amen! Though to be fair neither of the rumored Cronenbergs would be in my top ten for him.

Good catches. It was getting so late that I didn't expect any updates tonight. I also wondered if we'd ever get an entire box set upgrade. Now we will.

Eyes Without a Face is probably my most wanted upgrade. And since I was not aware of any hints or clues for an imminent release (or any release for that matter), this comes as a most pleasant surprise.

All the new releases are almost barebones (but all with full price lists). What the fuck is this company's priorities anymore? It sure ain't supplemental material

Yikes. Witch and Uninvited should be $30 if they are that bare bones.
Weak month in my mind all around.

Boring lineup as far as I'm concerned, perhaps with the exception of I Married A Witch. Cassavetes and Antonioni don't resonate with me, and I found The Uninvited merely good, not great. Was really hoping for The Brood in October, now I'm seriously considering to get the Second Sight BD instead.

Hmm, the Cassavetes' films and Eyes Without a Face are some of my favorite films, but I already own them on DVD and don't feel the need to upgrade (especially since the Cassavetes box set will cost me a pretty penny).
As for the other releases, La Notte sounds very interesting. I haven't seen much Antonioni, other than L'Avventura and Identification of a Woman (the former I liked very much, the latter I found insufferable).
I Married a Witch and The Uninvited are both films that I may like, but it's disappointing to see the releases as being so bare bones. I'm surprised Criterion didn't put those at the lower price level.
I think this month's biggest disappointment for many will be the lack of the Cronenberg's, as well as Eraserhead. I assume these will all be coming in November. But, otherwise, I can't help but agree this month was a bit of a let down.

Yeah, despite both new releases being some of my most anticipated and favorite titles this hatred of extras with a big price is so off putting. Makes both of them from day one purchases to wait for sale ones.

The 'coming soon' page says Eyes Without A Face is getting a DVD and Hulu (?) something release, no mention of blu-ray.

This month might as well be an advertisement for the November Barnes & Noble sale.
