Anyway, is this the place where we might discuss Soggy Bottom?

PTA dropping some knowledge in this IndieWire interview:
Obviously not enough people saw “Spencer,” because there’s no way you could pay attention to what we do and not give that film more recognition. Not just for Kristen Stewart’s performance, which is astonishing, but just across the board it’s an incredibly well-done film.

He also called The Worst Person in the World “the best movie in the world” which NEON is using as a pull quote on some posters now
Spoiler
He’s right too

As long as the internet’s been around, people have been able to voice their opinions and excitement about things. Letterboxd is something I need to spend more time on. My daughter’s involved with it and quite likes it. I’m trying to think what my feelings are about it.

Are you a lurker?

I have secret accounts all over the place. It’s hilarious. When my daughter was younger, she got Instagram and I tried to get a secret account to follow her. She was like, “It’s not a secret. I’m seeing you.” I was like, “Oh well.” The only way you’re going to film right now is to be aware of what’s happening in the world.
... and Criterionforum?

Obama may well have a lurker profile on LB too, btw, his slight change in taste over the last few years would indicate as much.

Is there a user named 'Mason & Dixon'? 'Cause that might be the giveaway

As an aside, ever since PTA's recent Zoom interview where the author (I forget what column this was from) observed that his 'name' on Zoom was "Mason & Dixon", I've been wondering if PTA's "complex" script that he took a break from to make Licorice Pizza is his long-gestated passion project adapting Pynchon's (greatest) novel. PTA's recent comments about a disinterest in tackling TV/limited series gives me pause, but I suppose you could eliminate a huge chunk of the book and still embrace the offbeat buddy routine with doses of comedy and pathos over a decent runtime (though this also doesn't jibe with his recent comments about trying to bring movies down to an ideal two hours). Who knows, but I'd love to see it- even if it'd be preferable in a longer form to breathe

I'm about 95% sure he runs all the social for Licorice Pizza. I saw him personally take photos on his phone from perspectives that correspond with ones that were posted on Instragram.

I'm choosing to believe he lurks here and that all his films need to have uhd releases which I am sure he agrees with.

There is at least one director of another major film from last year who lurks here, but I guess more could too!

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to write up reviews of all the major films from last year and casually mention that I wrote a screenplay.

Paul Schrader? (He might actually enjoy it here - he does pretty damn well in the annual polls.)

EDIT: I guess the easiest way to check would be the dynamic top ten threads - just look for anyone who listed his films at #1.

Darren Aronofsky a lurker? Wondering why he hasn’t gotten a call from Peter Becker

A jazz epic set in Little Harlem of the 1940s, maybe based on a Chester Himes novel, with extremely talented mixed martial artists in the mix? Intrigued.

Another period piece. PTA hasn’t made a film set in the contemporary world since Punch Drunk Love. Similarly, Tarantino hasn’t since Death Proof.

I’d say the contemporary world is pretty great. I’d much rather live in it from a basic safety sense than any other time.

Another film with a teenage lead? One of the disappointments of Licorice Pizza for me is I wrongly thought a good chuck was going to take place at a school "Child actor at High school". I was looking forward to that but I should've known better that his loglines are never what the film ends up being.

I still say he's been strugging for inspiration since The Master. I hope this is a script he's been working on over a period of time. That last 2 felt a little too undercooked and almost like first drafts IMO.

I think his last two films are his finest, and that Licorice Pizza is the single most accomplished American film in many years –– and this from someone who was very disinterested in it even after having immense love for Phantom Thread, pretty much until two or three days before seeing it. I don't think Anderson is struggling for inspiration at all.
