Does anyone know if there are going to be more BLU sets?
I just ordered one but I have the Golden series and would like to know if I should send it back and get the "Character Discs" that have new shorts or hope that the BLU works out fine?

Totally depends on sales of Vol. 1, I'm sure.

Also after getting the BLU set there is no way anyone would thing the"collector's glass" is anything but a shot glass. It should have just owned it and included a drinking game like Showgirls did.

Looney Tunes seems like it's going under... No new Blu but a DVD release of the Blu set which was half or so on the Golden collections.

This what they're doing instead of continuing the platinum collection? I guess at least we're getting releases though I wish some more obscure stuff was thrown in the mix. It does lend a hope for a Tex Avery Boxset though.

Looks like only 5 of the 19 here were included in the Golden Collection sets, so I'll probably buy this. ("Sniffles Takes a Trip," "The Aristo-Cat," "Mouse Wreckers," "The Hypo-Chondri-Cat," "Cheese Chasers")

My understanding is that Platinum Vol. 2 is still being planned for late 2012 / early 2013. This is simply another way to get shorts out that they think they can market.

In all honesty, I'm game as long as they don't repeat shorts between all the sets that come out on Blu-ray, Platinum or otherwise.

Well fuck me, I really was thinking more of a shot glass box vol 2 but mice will do.

This Best of Bugs Bunny has to be the biggest fuck you a studio has made for customers. Runtime is 20 minutes. Why was this ever released? How can any studio justify manufacturing cost on this atrocity?

Never underestimate the repackaging abilities of Family divisions. Then again, it's available for $5 and clearly marketed towards families that want to throw on a short DVD for their toddlers, so it's not THAT big of a deal, IMO.

But still, $5 for a 20 minute DVD? I think WB is really trying to kill the DVD market with this crap.

I'm pretty sure those have been around for a long time. They were some of the first DVDs I saw are supermarkets.

There's a second disc with only 3 cartoons, Looney Tunes Unleashed. These discs are new, they have not been previously available. What also sucks is that most of the cartoons on these discs were on those previous atrocities, the Looney Tunes Super Stars single-disc collections in which the cartoons were cropped to widescreen.

Why they didn't just drop the MSRP of those discs down to $10 for the family market instead of mastering and pressing new discs is beyond me. After manufacturing and distribution costs and retailer discounts, how much are they going to get back on each of these? 50¢?

This release is $25 for 25 minutes.

Each of those minutes better be a cure for the flu at least.

The lack of Foghorn cartoons in general is rather disheartening. What does McKimson's corpse need to do to get a little respect around here?

I have noticed that the press release for Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Volume 2 says that disc 3 of the set, which will only be available in the blu ray release, will contain "a selection of Tex Avery's best cartoons from MGM". You can't tell from the press release which ones, whether they will be cleaned up, or whether they will be in HD. (Some of the material on disc 3 of Platinum Volume 1 appears to be SD.) Disc 3 will also include "lost cartoons from the World War II era, including Private Snafu and Seaman Hook" - but - just speculation - I wonder whether that might also include any of the WWII era Censored Eleven.

Maybe they'll finally put out Red Hot Riding Hood, one of the few titles still completely M.I.A. in R1.
